the remaining housemates all look a very disapointing bunch to me, would science or whoever wins be able to command even the slightest bit of interest after the shows over?

I think they'll have a good career when they leave the show. Since this has been the most memorable big brother, i think the winner will be more remembered as well. This big brother has had a lot of variety with everything, so things might be looking good for them.
