IT WAS only a matter of time before Makosi Musambasi's odd antics on Big Brother infuriated and irritated British TV viewers.

Last Friday marked a turning point in the lowlife lesbian's stay in the house when she realised, rather too late, that while the Brits are largely liberal, they have moral bounds too.

Makosi is now the most HATED person remaining in Big Brother, after polling an equal number of votes with Vanessa -- only evicted after a deciding vote by housemate, Science.

The sobbing daughter of a retired policeman said after the great escape: "I don't have anyone anymore. I'd love to last to the end, but the torture of knowing I am not wanted is too much."

Pity, then, Makosi doesn't have access to New Zimbabwe.com.

We warned on the day she went into that wretched place that her behaviour, which has worsened since, will win her no fans and lose her friends.

There was the predictable excitement and orgasmic reviews from the tabloids who love all things sexual and outrageous, but Makosi did not prepare for a British quality that may yet end her stay in Big Brother house: A TOTAL DISLIKING FOR LIES.

British politicians know that the worst political crime is lying. Many have resigned for being suspected of lying, lying or not telling the whole truth. It is in the nature of the Brits to reject liars and their lies.

Unlike their American cousins, the Brits have also rejected being scared or blackmailed into supporting certain causes.

It would be cruel on Makosi to expect her to understand these intricate qualities of the British people because while she copies them and lives among them, she doesn't understand them.

Makosi has committed two cardinal sins: Lying and using blackmail to try and beat the British public to rally around her.

The Brits don't give a toss about her lesbian kisses, walking in the nude and dramaticism. But they do get worried when someone tries to win them over through lies, blackmail and deception.

Makosi and her PR machine have done all those!

On the first day Makosi went into the Big Brother house, she declared she was a virgin. She knew, as we said it then, that this was a lie. Her motivation was clear: she was in Big Brother to cause shock and awe and dominate the news media.

Now her sister, Veronica, who is enjoying her 15 minutes of fame, has unhelpfully intervened to claim Makosi went into Big Brother in order to get money to pay for her mum's cancer operation.

But wait a minute. Just this past week, Makosi's father, Rich, told us her daughter's real motive for going on Big Brother. He said: "Makosi always wanted to be famous and we are happy for her."

And do you know what Makosi lists as her favourite TV programme? Look no further than Big Brother. So why is Veronica wheeling out this stuff about her mum's cancer when we know Makosi is just hunting fame?

A colleague at the Zimbabwe Independent told me this week that Makhosi's mum, Sennie, who is said to be afflicted by cancer has not missed a day's work for the past four years because of illness. This is not to say she doesn't have cancer.

The British public has refused to be blackmailed into rubber stamping bigger international issues like war on Iraq, despite being told Saddam Hussein was 45 minutes away from dropping chemical bombs on London.

Makosi's PR stuntmen should have known trying to run a campaign on the basis of her mum's medical troubles was a gamble that could backfire spectacularly, just as it threatening.

Worse, the Brits are naturally alarmed that a nurse can go on national television and promote unprotected sex. In Makosi's case, it's not just a nurse, but an overseas nurse from a country where 4 000 people die weekly through Aids largely because they did exactly what Makosi did by having unprotected sex in the pool with a housemate.

Whenever she is evicted, Makosi will emerge from the Big Brother house a loser and a sad case. And when the newspapers find more outrageous fame hunters, she will be forgotten and will only be remembered as 'that girl who had unprotected sex on TV'.

Oh dear. How naive.

-Makosi got the same public votes as vanessa.

-Science made the casting vote.

Damn, I thouht UK tabloid journalism was poor. The media hacks in Zimbabwe make yours truly look like a 3 times pulitzer prize journalist.

Calrissian: tries to be more accurate than Zimbawean reporters

Her sister Veronica might have just said this as a spur of the moment type of thing, and plus we didn't hear this from Makosi herself. But yes granted, she has lied as well as other things. I don't get why people "hate" people that don't act like Brian from big brother 3. It's only a game show, i mean, if they started making fun of us brits, then fair enough. When Vanessa left the house, some moron (according to a post on here) threw an apple at Vanessa, now did she deserve that, no. I just wanted Vanessa evicted because she was boring, and the fact that she didn't bring anything to the house. I certainly don't hate Vanessa, that's for sure, i don't even dislike her. I think there's some people out there that might be taking big brother too seriously. It's a game show, whatever happens, it's purely entertainment. There's no reason why we should loathe a housemate, just all part of the game. When Saskia started insulting Makosi, i thought she was bang out of order, but i wouldn't have booed her when she came out of the house. Just hope that Makosi doesn't get booed, that's all. Unless she does something that's totally out of order, like calling us brits or something. I think booing "might" be acceptable, but they would have to have done something terrible to have deserved it.

New Zimbabwe seems extremely reactionary and illiberal to me. I find their articles pretty revolting, actually - so full of hate.

Too true. I'm maybe guilty of taking it too seriously at times (... ) but I completely agree. You would think that some housemates had committed gross crimes the way some ott people carry on. The programme is great in the way that it stimulates our emotions and opinions, but the level of revulsion and bile that is aimed at housemates is incredible.

I want Derek out because he annoys me with his constant "I want to go-o-o-o. I want to leave this dreadful place..." but I wouldn't say I loathe or even hate the guy. I suspect that I actually like him, but that 'complainy' side of his personality grates on me. It's funny how people allow the programme to cause their feelings to run riot. Sit back and ENJOY it, people. It's MEANT to be entertainment.
