I'm sure that Science and Orlaith are nice enough in their own environments. Like was posted earlier, and has been said often enough, these housemates are under different pressure to what they're accustomed and are almost certainly acting and reacting in ways they normally wouldn't. Almost certainly I said - not a fact, not even a concrete opinion, just a possibility.

Wouldn't both Science and Orlaith come across better in real life?

I know that how they might come across in real life isn't that relevant to a lot of people, because most viewers go on what is seen on the telly.

Does anybody take into account a housemate's background or any reason for their behaviour? Or is their actual behaviour all we tend to go on?

Science is like one of those blokes that sit on the benches in town, talking and swearing to himself or anyone who walks past, with a 2 litre bottle of white lightning, and everyone gives a wide berth too  Only Silence could do it for nowt, on the cheap with no booze ;)

Hmm.
I have a personal rule. Once the given house rat has got the boot, I set aside all I've said/noted about them. If after 2-3 weeks they are once again coming out with the same cliches, lies, and attitude as in the house, then I'll go back to my original beliefs.

So, even slimy creature Craig gets 2-3 weeks of a reprieve from me. I'm not hopeful that he'll be any different in the 'real world', but you never know.

*of course, some ex-housemates simply fade away permanently, never to be heard from again, and that is probably for the best in most respects. I would think that with each series it must get considerably easire for housemates from previous series. After all, even those in BB5 are now fading away from Memory, well, most.

Calrissian: Mr Scott, set course for the great beyond :-(

I dunno, something just tells me that Science would be exactly like this in real life. Orlaith just seems like the average person who has gone in there to play a game. But Science seems to be full of arrogance to me.

Thanks Calrissian - even sometimes when I might not explain myself all that clearly, you seem to get what I mean.

So now that Calrissian, steve_o and zx50 have demonstrated what I thought I meant, has anybody else any other ideas?

I usually try to 'make allowances' for people's backgrounds, but there are two problems with that tictac (sic)

(1) How can you really know the truth about someone's private life?

(2) You end up getting abused on Forums for being too lenient!

Orlaith is a model and, as such, is used to 'bitching'. I employed models for many years and they all have their moments. Outside the confines of the house I would expect Orlaith to be a well spoken and 'Nice' person, the type you could take anywhere and be happy in their company.

Science portrays himself as a bit of a 'Gangsta Type' but, to me he just comes over as a spoilt bratt who must have caused his parents a lot of grief in the last few years. The question is WOULD YOU EMPLOY HIM and, sadly my answer would be NO.........NO CHANCE.......NO WAY

:D

Imagine if a customer came up to him, and then had a differing opinion to him, my god, world war 3  He just can't seem to "talk" to people, it's always the same irritating tone. It's a no wonder that Orlaith ran in the house upset, the same tone all the time.

Ref (2), gerbilgranny - I think if the series was entirely fictional, there would be no need for leniency, "howevva" as the housemates are people from real life I think it's decent to allow some degree of understanding.

People on forum pages (SOME people I mean) get wayyyy too wrapped up in the seriousness of it all and fail to step back and take a breath and remember that it is meant to be entertainment.

Fair enough if we're discussing whether it constitutes entertainment or not, but the bile and venom aimed at some housemates, merely for being there and not behaving the way we ourselves would behave (or think people SHOULD behave), is beyond a joke at times.

Having said that, if Derek wants to stick to his guns and actually ACT on his promises this week, I'll be DELIGHTED.

1. Indeed, you can usually never know for sure.

2. You're too lenient. Booooooooooooooooooooooooo ::lol::
----

As usual, it will be interesting to see how the major players of this series react when they leave. We have Makosi, who is arguably the leading character. Will she hide away from the media, or strip herself bare, despite her conservative background?
---
Assuming Orlaith gets kicked this Friday, she'll just quietly fade away into hte background. She had her chance to win, but she blew it when she gave up her indendependent housemate status, when she teamed up with Makosi/Vanessa within 24hrs of entering the house.

Calrissian: back later, and trying to cut down on typos.

This will be an interesting space to watch. If Makosi 'knew' that Makosi was uniformly adored by the public, Makosi would probably shine for months to come.

"Howevva" (somewhat nasally) Makosi has begun to realise that the public perhaps don't have Makosi up on the pedestal that Makosi would like to be on. Makosi will have one hang of a dilemma, deciding whether Makosi's teetering sanity can handle a) the immediate adoration and subsequent dismissal or b) the poor reception that the boo-ing crowd indicates might await, or c) some other option.

Whichevva way, poor Makosi.

I personally think Makosi will be booed enough to fill London. That bit about her not really being pregnant in the papers won't help her either. All i'm going to remember Makosi for is being two faced and bitching. She did have "some" fun, but her bitching far outweighs the fun parts.

Just seen a video clip and, i don't think Orlaith should have said that she would walk if she made it past the eviction. What happens if she does make it past it, and she changes her mind. She's going to look like she just says anything at the right moment.
