Derek has just awakened Kermit to tell he is now a feminist, and must seek Germaine Greer’s guidance on the matter.
He reasons, that if a ‘blond’ will throw herself at a man then the whole female population must be in need of some mentoring - they only define themselves in relation to men. (I wonder how he explains the blubber-meister that is Craig)
I think this is what he says-The man is not that bright and it’s rather difficult to differentiate between the posh chatter and the thought pattern.

Is he right in terms of BB? Are all the women defined by male attention?

I agree, Derek is not that bright, just brighter than most of this years hms..it's more a case of 'In the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king'..... which is no feather in his cap as far as I'm concerned.

Orla has many faults, but 'throwing herself at a man' is not one of them.IMO Orla is a model, looking good and make-up are the tools of her trade.

In terms of BB, I'd say most of the type of female contestants choosen are willing to be defined by male attention or do whatever it takes to stay in the show - and given half the chance, Derek would do the same. IMO

So eloquently put - why do you express my emotions so much better than I can? Ok, ok, probably because I'm male and emotionally stunted!

I thought what Derek said was that he'd never encountered a woman who used her body solely to engage with a male. ${

Derek doesn't realise how much he's contridicted/lied since he's been on BB

he blatently displays behaviour which makes me think he doesn't like women and yet he tries to pass himself off as a feminist.

the man is arrogant snob, who thinks because he speaks in a (very) slow posh accent that he's somehow 'Brain of Britain'

Not wanting to make fun of Derek but, have you noticed that he seems to stutter badly as well. Nearly all the video clips i have watched, it takes him about 5 attempts at a repeated word, just to get his sentence out.

Its a trait I've noticed in a significant proportion of those with certain mindsets. I suppose you could say you can identify such people based on what social class they are, although that is far from always the case.

Only the smart stutter? Hmm, its certainly apparent in some cases. The more complex the thinking, the more thoughts there are to intefere with communication of a single train of thought.

okay. take Jade.
She has a single thought at a time, - easy to blurt out.
Derek, probably is thinking a few seperate thoughts, and ends up stuck, unable to utter his intial thought, since he's now considering the other things in mind.

As far as I know, there has not been any research in the area, but then I've been out of Academia for a few years, so who knows.

As ever, its all about how those tens of billions of neurons are wired up. Certain configurations give some very different abilities/character traits.

Calrissian: never stutters...if he concentrates really hard.

Derek is an old name-dropper.

Germain Greer, Bruce Forsyth, Colin Jackson, Margaret thatcher, and eek Christine Hamilton.

Just a few of the *lovely* celebrites he knows.

I'll give Saskia her due, she was completely right when she said that Derek hated women.

He, at some point, has bitched (quite viciously) about every woman in there. Even Makosi, though for some reason he hasn't been quite as nasty about her

Greer's advice will shock him! ;) ;) ;)
She recently presented a programme on prostitues was was a bit negative on the girls but then she did a complete about face in the last two minutes which turned all your moral judgements on thier heads.

To paraphrase....
"I am lucky to be inteligent, I earn a living by using my brain, not my body. I am utilising my best feature, my mind, to receive money from society in the same way these girls use thier best feature, their bodies, to receive money from society. Doesn't that make me just as much a prostitute as they are?"

I suppose some people are lucky to be intelligent, whereas some others, they just have to make do with what they can use. I suppose being clever and smart is just really good guesswork, like thinking out a situation or whatever.
