With the political situation as it is after the bombs and the various boards commentating on Derek's racism, have BB been told by the Racial Equallity Commission to have quiet word with him?

Seemingly frustrated by the lack of electrical cleaning equipment, he [Derek] broke out into a monologue-style moan about society in general: "Intimidating people into thinking thoughts that they do not think. What you have now is basically the suppression of people's natural instincts. It's a good thing people suppress instincts that are racist or sexist... [we live in] the oldest democratic nation in the world and one of the most civilised nations in the world and that is that."

He continued: "But when it comes to bantering, joke-making, when a thing is said in jest, it should be taken in jest. You should be able to feel you can laugh at it... It's ludicrous, it's so, so ludicrous."

So the 'Racial Equality commission', aka the 21'st century nazi thought police are upset with Derek.

What they want to do, string him up for daring to talk about culture, and the fact that people are no longer meant to express what they really think.

I have very little respect for laud', yet I hold to the attitude of 'I'll die for his right to free speech'.

Cal - I think Merx is asking whether CRE have said something, not that they actually have

re: polictical correctness in general, I don't see any problem with it in the right context.

In the 70's/80's people would say all manner of offensive things about ethnic minorities, gays or women, so I think it's fair to challenge this.

Obviously it's wrong when you get stupid things like banning Baa Baa Black Sheep etc, but this isn't anything that instigated by the so called offended party. A lot of the 'bad' polictal correctness comes from people who think they're acting on others behalf.

I also think you get instances of people who want to carry on being offensive and then attack polictical correctness for not being able to do so

I saw that seach today and thought 'What on earth...?' I put it down to Derek being Derek showing off to the cameras.

I don't think Derek is particularly racist, he just hates everyone and everything.

Yes he definately has issues...

But back to the thread....it looks like he's been warned
