Mirror

MAXWELL Ward has been sacked from his job as an electrician at fashion store Top Shop.

Maxwell, 24, arrived home after his six weeks in the Big Brother house to find a letter telling him he was fired.

A colleague at the store on London's Oxford Street said: "He didn't tell anyone he was leaving. He just didn't turn up for work. The next thing we knew was when we saw him on the show."

A spokeswoman for Top Shop owners Arcadia said: "He can appeal against our decision. We'd be interested to hear what he has to say."

On a more serious note, I think that store has escalators so that might be why he's needed. It's because you get more tourists up Oxford Street and they're too bloody lazy than the rest of us who go shopping in, say, Croydon or Wimbledon and have to use the stairs.

Or you get those shops that have an escalator to go up but not down? What's the point in that? :-?

That's probably true actually. The River Island store in Croydon only has the up escalator and they love it when people buy their overpriced rubbish.

Forbidden Planet near Tottenham Court Road only has stairs but sometimes you can't find them again. It's my excuse to spend hours and hours with all those lovely comic books, which is apparently something girls shouldn't enjoy but I don't care.

So where will Maxwell work now? Alvin the Chipmunk impersonator maybe?

Calrissian: everything is finally making sense, except Craigs 'I raped you Anthony' comment

I'm sure he's really bothered, lol!

He mentioned this when he was on Xfm with Jimmy Carr, said that the letter read: "We can't help but notice that you haven't been into work for the last eight weeks!" ::lol::

If this is true, then surely he would have known that he would be sacked for not saying anything. The first thoughts would be to ask if it was okay for you to go on the show, and then you might or might not get permission to do so.

I assume he had a contract. Therefore I'm sure he won't find it funny when the company sues him.

Employer has the laws with its side. The responsible one is Channel 4 / Endeamol that has forbidden people that are chosen to go in the BB House to say a word to anybody before they are in. So worker can't ask for any free-time without salary. As Adrian_L wrote it is the one of the risks! :-?

He won't have been bothered though, he'd have been thinking he was gonna come out a celeb and wouldn't need the job any more!
