I think that for anyone who wants to adopt, whether they be a single person, gay, married, or whatever, the important thing is that their motive isn't totally selfish and based on their own *needs*.

I think that many gay couples who are in a serious and committed relationship could offer a much better home to a child than many of the *natural* parents I've seen treating their own kids like something they stepped in. Over the years I've often wished I could rescue kids from the homes they have been born into. I have seen things that have totally horrified me.

I've quite a few gay online friends, and from the way I've heard them talk about their nephews and nieces, and their godchildren, etc, I think they have a lot of love to offer, and would probably make fantastic parents.

Agreed, Dixy - the kids in care would probably be much better off with a gay couple than where they are at the minute.

My best friend in the entire world is gay, and he is desperate for a child of his own, whether they be from his sperm, adopted or fostered. I know that may he get a child, that child would be cared for in the best possible way and have a very fortunate parent. I'm not saying that every gay person is the same. This is just one instance.

My favourite charity has always been the NSPCC, and one day I hope to become a foster parent. And I have a few gay friends, male and female. Every single one of them has such a caring soul, and I would always pick them to babysit my child or children. I reckon gay couples should be able to adopt, because from my experience that child would be loved, cared for and be fortunate.
