A British couple who had sex while floating in a dinghy sparked a rescue operation when passers-by thought the sounds of their love-making were cries for help.

Lifeboat crews rushed to the tiny boat - afloat near Torbay, in Devon - after onlookers reported the two people were stranded at sea.

However, when they arrived at the vessel they found the embarrassed man and woman naked on board.

A spokesman for Torbay Coastguard said: "They were not in any trouble when we got there. From our point of view, everybody had a good laugh and came home."

Ha,ha, i bet they were a bit embarassed. Blimey, imagine that being the topic of conversation of why you had to be rescued.

It was worse than that - apparently they had left all their clothes on the shore and when the lifeboat came to rescue them they said they'd make their own way back but the rescue team couldn't be persuaded. Then they were given a lecture back at shore.

I read this on holiday in Scotland the week before last and it was amusing as we were taking trips out in our inflatable boat.
