Apparently he suffers from Aspergers syndrome. I have read rumours of this on other forums.

Does anyone want to add to this with any knowledge they might have of the condition and give their opinion on these rumours?

  That's so weird. I said to someone just last night that looking at him he may have a mild case of Asperger. D@O'R is it people are assuming or is it somehting he said before he went in??

Basically its whats known as the high functioning end of autism. If he has it I dont think he is very high on the scale. In the main people with Asperger syndrome can find reading body language difficult and socialising can sometimes be quite difficult. They can also be sticklers for rules and like order and routine. Theres loads to it I would be here all day describing it I'm just amazed cos I only mentioned it the other day. I work with chldren with autism in a school :D

To varying extents, all the housemates have some sort of mental 'condition'.

All things considered, Eugene is one of the most balanced in the group.

From what I can remember, on a lesser Forum (have searched thru' 50 pages, and am rapidly losing the will to live)....

the consensus is that Eugene is 'mild' on the Asperger's scale - and apparently everyone is somewhere on that scale. On BBLB, Geoffrey Beattie, the psych, said that it was difficult for Eugene to pay a compliment ... when he was nominating Makosi, he said 'but she's a nice girl, I wish her well, and she's very good-looking', but his body language (yawn yawn, psychologist in the building) indicated that he was very uncomfortable in paying this compliment to Makosi..

If Eugene is anything other than 'normal', well that only puts him higher in my estimation!

Here is another link.

I wonder if his supporters are just saying that to try to get him more votes?

One day there will be so many crank theories and psuedo-classifications that all of us will be pigeon-holed as something or other and no-one will be classified as normal.

Psychological Bunkum. People are people. And Eugene, bless him, is just Eugene.

Well Alan. I think that was a classic denial post, you almost certainly have asperger/dyspraxia, and your clearly trying to hide the symptoms in your bluster

Oh my Eugene to win, as hes the most obvious mentalist, and the others are just in denial :D

oh great..now he is in a tizz..because he was offered sconnes and Tea.

What an absolute idiot. One day he is being treated like dirt by Makosi, and here he is....foregoing his treat...to allow the witch to leave the cage 30mins early.

Utterly dumb fool. For that alone, he doesn't deserve to win.

Calrissian: disgusted

In all seriousness, I don't believe in all this psyho-froth that people swallow simply because 'scientists' dish it up for us to digest.

They are egotistical careerists hoping to make reputations and fortunes for themselves. And of course, when you diagnose a new illness, there is always a new 'wonder drug' to cure the malady. The big drug companies have pulled this scam for over a century. They are as much cranks as New Age Gurus and 'self-help' advocates.

No scientist is truly independent. They are all in the pay of private business or public institutions (Governments or Universities) and are thus restricted in what they can publish. That is when they are not actually paid to produce particular 'findings'. Research costs money, and anyone producing work outwith the usual streams is hooted at as a crank.

We may have had this discussion here before, or perhaps I am thinking of another forum. Anyway, I am sure this demonstrates I am suffering from an acute case of paranoid deja-vuism.

Yes, and there is a pill to treat it. Of course, it will give you the shakes, dry mouth... and make you impotent, but thats okay..because you'll be so catatonic you won't be aware of reality anyway ()^

Calrissian: not a fan of drugs....well, a few
