And just as i can confirm that they said it would be 'a good idea' for the crowd to stay silent when Davina sopke to the house, Davina also said it would be a good idea if whoever left the house came out to cheers, as they had been in there so long, and had kept us entertained and been good housemates.

I cant deny though, that there WERE derek supporters there, but on previous eviction nights they have encouraged the crowd to boo the evictee.

My take on it is that they didnt want Derek to get a bad reception as they were scared he wouldnt go through with his interview. Derek AND Eugene got booed when Davina read out their numbers (as heard on TV), therefore by getting the crowd to remain silent when they talked to the house and encouraging cheering when Derek left ensures Derek was protected from the bad feeling towards him, they can tell him he has the best reaction this series, and do a totally wishy-washy interview with him, not bringing him to task about his most odious moments in the house, therefore everyone is happy. (*edit* except me!)

For the record, I didnt boo OR cheer when the man came out - mainly because he glared at us and freaked me out, he has such an evil stare and looked psychopathic, i swear i felt sick and a chill ran through me. It was an awful feeling, one i wasnt prepared for to be honest!

I've just watched a recording of last night's shows - I couldn't believe Derek got such a 'good' reception after the way he mostly behaved in the house....wasn't surprised at Davina's 'soft' interview.

I'm inclined to belive that to be true.

So, maybe the crowd are just going by what the host Davina mcoll tells them, or, by what the producers want. Still, i bet there are some people there who would gladly boo them WITHOUT the need for any encouragement from anyone. I missed the interview anyway, just hope that Davina asked him about all the things that he was being hypocritical on.

I think the crowd on the whole are just sheep though, to be honest. They hold Davina in very high regard, and she does chat with the crowd alot before and during and build up a rappor.

You know something, i reckon Channel4 should have video clips of the WHOLE interview on their website. Because for people who never got to see the interview, they could always watch it as a streaming video.

Hmmn, i've just read the interview with Derek on the Channel4 website, and it appears that Davina let him off the hook. What happened to asking him about his acts of hypocriticalness?? Honestly, maybe it's good that i never saw his interview after all

What difference does it make what week a HM comes out? If crowds are gonna boo, let them boo. How sheepish people's reactions are, and how easily herded into a different pen on the opposite of the field.

Why should Derek not be booed? Mary was booed for nothing worse than being 'weird'. She was only in there a week, shouldn't she have been shown leniency?

Did the producers fear posho Derek would walk away if booed (surely Tories should be used to hissing mobs?). Or did the producers show solidarity with one of their own.

That's if Tories can abide the concept.

I watched it today as I missed it last night. I don't despise Derek but I do think he got off lightly when it came to the interview. Davina just seemed to fluff over things and there was no mention of Orlaith In fact when he mentioned her she quickly moved on
