Just why would anyone turn down 50k ?
I don't get it.
We all know these are game show contestants, just what is going in the minds of some you posters tonight ?

Cal: very bemused at the bizarre views on money

I am sure you could. I on the other hand would always feel like a money-grabbing thief and cheat. But then I'm the type of idiot who hands wallets into Police stations.

I don't believe anyone who says they'd refuse it. You'd have to be Mother fecking Theresa to turn it down. It's a win/win situation - if you lose BB, you have 50k; if you win, you have 100k. Either way, you're a winner! :)

No, just someone with principles who doesn't worship money as their God. I know you don't believe me, but I WOULD turn it down. There's such a thing as winning the right way. Alright, BB is a gameshow where nearly anything goes, but that too me is beyond what I could do. Yes, I could bitch and nominate and plot and scheme, but that is just naked greed. I need to feel I had earned it.

Craig, BB1, gave up the prize money quite easily.

But in many instances...winning BB does come down to chance.. nominations, twists etc..

Winning the right way is nigh on impossible...

Seriously,, nowadays I would say no, I have bought and sold cars of that value in a day and not batted an eyelid. But if it was when I was twentyish , well then maybe, but I would hope i would be clever enough to realise this would be the worst thing to do

Ditto blagman. Apart from the buying and selling cars bit.

What's this "winning the right way" business? Eugene didn't change the rules, Big Bro did, so Eug just took advantage of that. You might think you're taking someone else's money, but it's just as likely you're taking some of your OWN money in advance.

But if Eugene had refused the money .. it would have gone to someone other HM - it's not like he took money from a worthy charity, or something..!

I know myself well enough by now to know in Eugene's situation tonight, I wouldn't take the money. I'd have taken my chances with the rest of them, with a clear concience.

I would hope that I would turn the money down but I certainly dont judge him for taking it. For goodness sake NON of them have behaved in a manner very fitting. Eugene was put in a difficult position, no one else would go in the DR and he HAS done the right thing in the past. I was surprised at his decision but ffs give him a break and stop being so sanctamonious. (those that are I mention no names ;) )

But why? To what advantage? It could well be a down payment on your own winnings that you're accepting, so why refuse it?
