But why? To what advantage? It could well be a down payment on your own winnings that you're accepting, so why refuse it?

Because like Eugene, I wouldn't know that for certain.

Ant isn't a moral midget. He is wuss. I didn't see him volunteering to go into the diary room. One good thing about Eugene is that he was brave. he took a big chance going into the diary room. He could have been evicted. After all they all thought there was another eviction tonight. Ant was and always has been afraid to do anything which may mean he wouldn't win.

If you go through life with the attitude .."I have to take everything I can to my advantage no matter who else loses out" ..then imo that is not someone with integrity.

This is my opinion and how I wish to live my life...but we all must make these decisions for ourselves.

So why take the chance? Like I said, it's win-win and f*ck the other HMs - you owe them nothing

Too right I would have taken it especially if I didn't think I was gonna win overall. TBH I thought while it was going on that he wouldn't take it but I'm glad he did. I also hope he's still in with a chance of getting the other 50k too. Anthony and Makosi were both so arrogant in their "I wouldn't have taken it" because IMO they think they're gonna win the prize anyway. An interesting side is that my son said he wouldn't have taken it because magazine deals etc would have made more than 50k but I honestly don't think Eugene would have thought of that.

Well, I'm a Socialist and I was the first to say I wouldn't take it.

I wonder what the snobs on this board, of which there are a few, would have made of this decision had it been taken by a 'prole' or 'chav' such as Lesley or Maxwell...

Any of the snoots like to comment?

No? And I am being sanctimonious?

I wouldn't as I would not want to deny the winner the money they deserve. If that was Craig in there I very much doubt he would have taken the money. As it stands Eugene is now least likely to win; he wasn't there from the start and he's already got half the jackpot.

I would back anyone taking the cash, alan. Evev Maxwell, who I despise not because he's a "chav" (which he isn't anyway, just a Mockney) but because he's an arsehole.

I wouldn't have taken it, because I'm well aware that money doesn't buy you happiness.

If I won it fair and square, or got it by some means that didn't involve potentially cheating someone else, I'd accept it gratefully. But I couldn't enjoy it at all if I felt it was tainted in some way. It's kind of like not feeling happy about a good exam result if you've cheated.

If Eugene really has Aspergers he would find it hard to comprehend the social rules involved here.Imo..he did not understand that he was NOT evicted(i.e. with the little knowledge I have of Aspergers and their logical minds.....)he would have led himself to the conclusion that he was to take the money and be ousted...I am not meaning to patronise here in the slightest...I just feel he's being judged unfairly....
Think on this....most of our devious, less logical mindsets would have thought.....'hang on..if I am seen to give this up I will win by the grace of the voting public...'...An Aspergers sufferer cannot see that.

You can of course conclude what you will :D

But please try not to dismiss a thoroughly decnet guy on one misinterpreted act :D

If Eugene has Aspergers should he even be in the house? Especially as you say he may not comprehend the consquences of his actions?

I personally don't think he has ...some people just have idiosyncrasies.
