Lets not forget the reason HE went to the DR was because the others were too chicken thinking they'd be evicted if they went...

Two excellent points pikeylass - you're spot on with both.

Most of us would have taken the money. It's the LOGICAL decision..
If only we'd not thought it through....

However, on a game show we would be playing and part of that game would be to work out the BVPs take on the handling of the situation..Of course, the honourable thing is to be seen to sacrifice this gift selflessly adn look at the bigger picture i.e. The viewing public will be looking and will vote me to win if I seem to be a selfless caring individual.

And as Molly says...he has it and now has the option what to do with it...

If you went on the show for money maybe it is the logical decision-if you went on the show for any other reason it probably wasn't.

Or maybe it is the right thing to do?

I personally would not have criticised him if he made the opposite decision-I doubt if many people would have done-supporters or anti or neutral.Maybe call him a wally for not wanting £50kMore likely praise would have been done.He could say I didn't come on the show for money and hold his head up high.

He went to the DR -I don't see why you can deduce the others were chicken-if discussed they may have decided differently.Makosi seemed happy to go-it looked like Eugene wanted to go so they let him this time.

So should he keep it?

It didn't take me the 60 seconds. As soon as Eugene headed to the diary room I'd thought "I bet he won't take it" - as a split-second assumption (I know I always say you shouldn't assume and I guess that proves it). I didn't give it any in-depth thought after I'd assumed the outcome, whereas, in the situation I may well have acted in a more thoughtful way.

You assumed that he wouldn't take it, as did everybody, because he has been trying to be nice all the while. This just showed his true colours. As I have been saying all along, he does have a selfish streak.

In the pool, Kinga asked him who he thought would win and he said Anthony, because he believes that Anthony is the most genuine one in there. If he thought that Anthony would win, then he took the money thinking that he was taking it away from Anthony and as he said - there would then be two winners - himself and Anthony, which imo, is selfish.

The rest of them are normally akin to a bolt of lightning when anyone's called to the diary room.

When they were called to the living room, they assumed that someone else was going to be evicted.

The pause after "someone" was called to the diary room was such that Eugene selflessly volunteered.

Makosi would normally have bowled people over getting there but not this time, no no. She waited until Eugene was mobile and then asked, "Do you guys want me to go...?" in what some would say was a very insincere tone, and without making a move to stand up, watching Eugene as he left to go.

And you are absolutely right - "this time" they "let" him go - when they were worried it would be another eviction. Makes all the more sense that he took the money.

Compare it to the tea and cakes issue that upset him so much. There was a DEFINITE housemate that was going to 'lose out' if Eugene took the tea and buns - Eugene didn't want to single her out, although his fellow housemates all had.

I think if Eugene had had to decide between taking half the money thereby causing a specific housemate to lose out, he wouldn't have done it. The very fact that it was an IMpersonal decision whereby he gained without any one particular person actually losing out would have made it a whole lot easier.

You can't really compare tea and cakes to £50,000. If he had accepted the tea and scones, three people including himself would have benefited, so you could say that by refusing them, he was not considering the two other housemates. Tea and scones was really no big deal compared to what the other housemates had been offered and accepted, plus the fact that he went last, meant that they had already had a few treats, so to say no to them was really no big deal at all imo.

Whereas, the only person who would benefit from the £50,000 was himself, possibly to the detriment of one other housemate, therefore it was a completely selfish thing to do.

Anthony just said he wouldnt of taken the money.

Yes and this must be the truth, because in Craigs interview they showed a clip, whereby Anthony had said to Craig that he wasn't in it for the money.

He has recently said in the DR that if he was offered the choice between £50,000 or to be the winner of BB, he would honestly choose to be the winner of BB, rather take the cash. He truthfully admitted that he went on BB, because he just wanted to be on TV and in the papers - something his friends hadn't done.

Eugene may well have a selfish streak. Which one of us doesn't? I can't help giving Eugene the benefit of the doubt because, from what I know of him, he is a genuine bloke who wouldn't hurt or deceive anybody. I don't know what decision I would have come to, given 60 seconds to think about it. Eugene (I imagine) has thought all along that he had no chance of winning, but being handed that cash on a plate you would be mad not to take it - wouldn't you...? (genuine question to self too...)

As for it being Eugene's true colours, I'm genuinely not so sure. That pressure in that timescale might have had an effect that would possibly have been different in a timescale of even 2 mintes, say.

Who knows.

Away to read your next post now Christine.

I wouldn't have, because I would feel like a thief from stealing from the winner. Even if I hated the others. Yeah, I know it's easy to say, but I honestly think I would decline. I'm not money-oriented, which is probably why I have so little.

That's the way i feel too..I would feel I had cheated someone and the public.

I wouldn't have taken the money either. I would prefer to try to win it fair and square and if I didn't win, then fair enough - I obviously didn't deserve it. It would play on my conscience too much knowing that I had taken money which had originally been put aside for the winner and I couldn't live with that. I would feel too guilty afterwards.

I wouldn't even have had to think about it. I would immediately have thanked BB for the offer and then declined it.

The thing is, they are going to make a mint on the outside. There will be photo shoots and everything, interviews on tv, appearances at shops and various other places. I think the chances of you making much more than £50,000 are very high indeed.

Just looked at a rerun of the Diary Room call for one housemate.

Anthony was standing on the opposite side of the room still hanging up his clothes.
Makosi was nearest the exit but sitting on the couch facing in-Kinga to her right away from the exit.
Eugene was opposite Makosi but had a clear path straight ahead to the exit behind the couch-so in any race for the exit Eugene was favourite to reach the exit.
There was no race as Eugene was up and moving fast to the exit before anyone else moved-he moved wth the speed and precision of a trained ninja. When Makosi said shall I go -he was opening the exit and said it's oK.
Also on thinking about it in the cab tonight I realise that the HM's could be pretty certain the vote was on for the winner and no wierd eviction other than next placed on the vote was likely to be happenning.

So in conclusion-there was no bravery as such at all in going to the diary room.No deserves it for that arguement.Anyone who said so was wrong in my opinion. How Eugene happenned to be in the diary room was irrelevent. It was just a straighforward choice him.
