Almost 3 months ago...it all seemed clear.

BB6 would be a much lighter Big Brother than last year. It was going to be more fun, lots of play...and everyone would get along better. The tasks would be better run, and they'd be aimed at helping the group come together and enjoy their stay in the house. It would be like BB2, with a sprinkling of BB3 thrown in.

Shattered ?
Most are aware of that much rumoured word as being the clue to this year's theme. The weird dual eye, twins, endurance tasks, sleepless nights, a split house? Nothing. Instead, what we got were gnomes in the garden. Hmm

Tough BB?
err no. BB has been relatively easy going. Although certain housemates have been totally ignored when its comes to things like nomination chat etc. Derek should have got kicked for it, but no. Then there was the issue of BB talking 'friendly' to housemates. The cold impersonal BB seems to have faded, and many are clearly not happy with it.

Housemates
They seemed an intense group on day'1, and indeed they soon fragmented...only to then bitch 24/7 for their entire stay. I'm sure that even C4/Endemol must have been surprised at the level of paranoia and nasty talk that was the main feature of this years group. It was as though this year housemates were mostly unaware of the concept of 'fun'.

-------
As for next year...well, I'll save it for another thread/time. Suffice it to say it won't be the same. No house/group is ever the same. So, for those who didn't really enjoy this year, they can rest easy knowing that BB7 will be different. Maybe good different or bad different, who knows. It will be different though.

Calrissian: next years housemate

It was until the best housemate left this year. Last years was poor at the end with Nadia only winning because of a sympathy vote but it was superbly entertaining compared to what this one has become.

I don't think it was better then BB5 at all. At least I liked some people in BB5, and I even liked some people in BB4.

This year I have liked no one. No one in that house now will have left with any dignity. Not even Eugene.

 If Chavwell had stayed all the way until the final week then it would have confirmed that this years show was the worst. Alas him leaving early made this years show semi-worse for me.

Maxwell wasn't like but I guarantee had he been left in, there would have been a lot more entertaining than it has been! Craig and Anthony have been awful to watch yet they've been the best part since Max left. He'd have stirred things up, added humour and been so much more entertaining than Eugene!

.... better

BB being more friendly worked for me

the HMs were collectively awful, with only Mary escaping without being tainted in my eyes

I've had to justify liking a HM as much as I've done this year

as a group they couldn't bond and as such failed weekly tasks

the bitching was boring after the first week, unfortunately it got worse

I only have few favourites - Science, Mary, Saskia and Maxwell in the house (possibly include Makosi on first few weeks performance).

as 'bad' as BB6 was, at least the HMs bonded. This year's lot were hopeless

It's not really the big brother procuers that are at fault, it's the public for voting the "entertaining" housemates out. So what's going to happen next year then, they get the right kind of people in there, and then AGAIN, they get voted out. Are we just going to say again that it didn't work this year either. The people who are to blame for making the show less desirable to watch are the public who vote.

I strongly disagree with that ^ I keep seeing people say it and I can't understand it, in previous years it has certainly been the case that the entertaining ones go...this year though I do think we've kept in, or at least tried to keep in the characters...and the fact that people like Kemal, Derek, Kinga, Craig and Makosi were still there in the final weeks surely proves that?

The only time a real entertaining character got voted out over someone dull was Science vs Orlaith imho.

I agree whole-heartedly.

I mean Jesus, we are left with Anthony, Eugene in the final????? I understand we need the token dull guy but two of them?

^ yet we have 3 of the biggest characters from the whole series in the final week...and we couldn't have got rid of Anthony even if we'd wanted to (he hasn't been up since week 2).

I think what big brother has been lacking since BB3, is someone like Brian dowling. Big brother 4 was boring, and then after that, it was just all about arguments. We need someone to inject laughter into the show, someone who can have the audience in stitches with laughter. Brian was like a comedian a lot of the time, but he also knew when to just keep quiet and chill out, just like the other housemates.
