My probelm with the whole BB concept at times is that people take it to mean an automatic launch into a media career - talented or not. My problem with him is not his winning - just the assumption that 'cause he's been on TV there is a wonderful career waiting for him.
I have no problem with BB contestants using it as a launch pad. Jon from BB4 has, Cameron too, and many more: Ray, Anna, Jade, Kate, etc.
I say good luck to them. They have as much right to try be on TV as anyone.
When I see what talentless pretty things present on T4 or Saturday TV, I think "why shouldn't BB contestants be pushy?" Pushiness is probably all that matters for a media career. That and a bland, narrow definition of appearing 'beautiful'.
Cat Deeley, Zoe Ball, Dermott O'Leary, Davina McCall, etc. are all pretty things who, for me, don't have much talent. I'd much rather everyone on TV, Radio, writing in newspapers and appearing in films had talent, but I don't think that's the case, and never has been. Many people like them. And there are many people working in these fields who are very talented. Maybe it's all just subjective.
There will always be lots of people (although for each of us the names will be different) in the media we think "How on earth did
they get on?"
But I guess someone somewhere likes them. Either that or a lot of producers are lying back on casting couches with satisfied grins.
