Five gets steamy with new reality show
Hot Tub Ranking: presented by Naoko Mori, best known for her Absolutely Fabulous role
Big Brother creator Endemol's latest reality TV show involves semi-naked women bitching about who has the best body, while surreptitiously being ranked in order of sexiness by a group of men secreted behind a two-way mirror.
Hot Tub Ranking, which starts on Five on Friday September 23, aims to ask the "all-important" question of "who's hot and who's not".
To win a cash prize of a "few thousand pounds", women have to rank various parts of their bodies in order of sex appeal and exactly match the order of attractiveness drawn up by the men and vice-versa.
The brutal bodily evaluation process goes through several rounds - not unlike Miss World's day wear, evening wear and swimwear rounds - but both sets of contestants end up in their skimpies and the climax of the programme is where the hot tub comes in.
The show's executive producer, Gigi Eligoloff, said Hot Tub Ranking was not an excuse to show people getting their kit off on TV, but aimed to poke fun at how we think we look in comparison with others.
"It's totally addictive, once you start thinking along those lines it's impossible to stop. Hot Tub Ranking begs the question, are we really as good looking as we think we are?," she said.
The Five controller of features and entertainment, Ben Frow, said: "Hot Tub Ranking is a fresh and sexy entertainment show based on the premise that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in this show we find out who needs glasses."
The show is presented by comedy actor Naoko Mori - who is better known for her role as Saffy's long-suffering straightlaced schoolfriend in Absolutely Fabulous.
Mori hosts the show under the guise of a glamorous Japanese newcomer to TV presenting, called Mia.
