Heavy rainfall caused flash floods which have disrupted roads and public transport in south-west London.

The A3 and the A4 were most severely hit by several feet of water which has now begun to subside.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it had attended calls about flooding across the area.

Train services in Richmond and from Clapham Junction to Victoria and Kensington have been hit. The District Line is shut in the Richmond area.

Putney and Barnes are also said to have had several feet of water.

The LFB spokesman said: "We are getting calls about flooding from Wimbledon to Chiswick and as far as Heston which we are going to be attending."

We got that in Cambridge, we had just over 2 inches of rain in about an hour. A cafe in Cambridge got struck by lighting and they had to close the road off.
In the village where I live there is a pond, I have never seen this pond so full of water! The ducks are loving it :D

I have honestly never seen rain like this before in this country. It was similar to the monsoons you get in places like Hong Kong.

I live where theres not much chance of flooding. Theres too many hills and dips for the water to stay constant in one place all the time. I guess we are lucky that way.

the other day I was sat at work and saw a bolt of lightning hit the ground somewhere - it turned out to be the old house of someone I work with. I bet they were glad when they moved last year!

Whereabouts near the Severn does your mate live Spikey?

I went to visit Highley once, when the Severn flooded. It was unbelievable!
Haven't heard of the Severn flooding for ages actually - it used to happen annually at least. Maybe the flood defences are actually doing their job?!

No chance of flooding round here, as we're so high up, but we are prone to the odd lightning strike. I've avoided windows during storms ever since the house at the top of the road got hit a few years ago!
