TF: He was Toni Nieminen. He was in an article on our local newspaper yestrerday, because after he got married he has started to compete in trotting-races and with trotting-horses. So he has competing in his blood one way or another. Horses are not the simpliest mates to sport with, either is ski-jumping.

Another ski-jumper, Matti Nykänen, life has turn after his competing career a really pitiful one - he started to drink in a wrong company without any other education or profession than ski-jumping (I guess that he has learning disbilities as well and maybe ADHD), he has been gotten married and divorced several times, he has few children with single mothers, he has been performing as a singer :puke: and he has become violent with alcoholics (like most of the ADHD persons if they get some) and is now because of that in jail. He hasn't killed anybody yet.

Princess Dianas last partner had a luxury House in Finland by the sea - his family owns it still.

Maybe Santa Claus thought that Finland and Lapland is most peacefull place on earth to hide with elves and his wife and reindeers ::lol::

My list just don't have every single name on it... ;)

I forget to mention these F1 drivers:

Keke Rosberg
Jyrki Järvilehto (J.J. Lehto)
Mika Häkkinen and
Kimi Räikkönen

and these bands:

Nightwish
The Rasmus
H.I.M
Apocalyptica

(we have over here our own huge already traditional culture for rock and hard-rock music - eventhought that nowadays that kind of music is turning into a pop-music)

Jessica Lange is of Polish and Finnish descent - she was born in Minnesota, but if her mother, father, grandmother or granfather was a Finn then we count her as a Famous Finn! ::lol:: (I don't know which one of them were Finnish)

Well then yu should mention Pamela Andersson Lee too. Her grandfather was finnish. Oh, and Christine Lahti. Oh, and Matt Damon.

It was Toni Nieminen we were talking about, T. And Matti Nykänen too.

indeed! ::lol::

it was Toni Nieminen I was thinking about - and it was the 1992 Games in Albertville when he became the youngest gold medallist (Winter) at the age of 16. And some more info here, IOC website. Looking at that article has reminded me of Alberto 'La Bomba' Tomba.

Keke Rosberg, now there's a blast from the past!

Keke's son Nico is a rising star in the motorsport -scene. I don't consider him very finnish even though he is, he doesn't live here or even speak a word of finnish. But sure by our standards he is. At least when he starts really winning something ;)

::lol:: I almost forget that that people from Britain has moved or had to move abroad - it's quite traditional. I try to find few British people that have stayed in Finland and are well known - they usually speak Finnish as well these days! ;)

David Mawby is for example radio-journalist, Neil Hardwick is filmmaker, director, actor, writer... etc. and John Lewis director of Finnish Shiatsu School. But I guess that you haven't heard much about them! ;)
