The news that West Brom's Andy Johnson will not be joining the Sky Blues is a yet another blow to the club.
At a time when, in the words of Micky Adams, the team are lacking characters, 'Jonno' would, by all accounts, have been the perfect tonic.
Unfortunately, the fact that the deal to bring the box to box midfielder collapsed because of finances comes as no great surprise. The player is on Premiership wages and the Baggies insisted on City forking out the whole lot.
The mere fact that the club have got four non-contract players on a pay as you play basis compared to Crystal Palace's multi-million pound squad speaks volumes.
One of those players, Youssef Sofiane, brought a bit of Z-list glamour to the Ricoh Arena at the weekend when he invited his girlfriend, Tania Do Nascimento , to watch. The dark-haired looker enjoyed a brief glimpse of the limelight a couple of years ago when she took part in Big Brother Four. Fans of the reality TV show may recall she was the one who boasted about having a Premiership boyfriend and refused to be seen without her blusher.
Let's just hope Youssef doesn't end up red faced as he tries to stay in the Sky Blue house.
