In all seriousness. I'm far too young to remember what George Best brought to the football pitch and off it at the time but there is no doubt the man has lived his life to the full which is what we get told to do so in a way, I can't help but respect him in that sense.

George Best is a legend. He's done more in 59 years than the rest of us put together

Seems he improving a bit now, One thing you can say about him is that he never gives up!

LET ME SEE HIM:
ALEX BARRED FROM BESTIE VISIT

DISTRAUGHT Alex Best last night begged the football legend's family: "Please let me see my George again."

Tearful Alex pleaded with them to let her visit her ex-husband in hospital where he is fighting for life.

The former model claims that she has been banned from seeing Best by his 85-year-old father Dickie and eldest sister Carol, 58.

Alex says they told her to "keep away" from the ex-Man United and Northern Ireland star because her presence would be "inappropriate".

Yesterday she said: "I just want to see George again. I don't want anything from him. I was with him for nine years and loved him - part of me still does and always will.

"I know if he was conscious, he'd want to see me - but other people are making decisions for him."

A close friend of Alex, whose divorce from George was finalised in March, said she was angered by his family's sudden protectiveness.

The friend told the Sunday Mirror: "It's ironic that they don't want Alex to see him. When he had his liver transplant, none of them went to visit him in hospital.

"He hadn't been close to them for years. It was Alex who persuaded him to pick up relations with them again. She even moved back with him to Northern Ireland after the transplant to be nearer his family.

"Alex feels bitter and hurt at being shut out. Since the divorce, they have enjoyed a good relationship.

"When he has had problems, he stayed with her and he has even spent a couple of nights sleeping on her sofa on several occasions. Nine years is a long time to be with someone and, of course, she still cares for him."

Alex, 33, is relying on text messages from Best's son Calum, 24, and updates from the medical team caring for him for the latest information on his condition.

She is currently staying with her mother Cheryl Pursey at her home in Cheam, Surrey. Mirror
