I must have read solidly for about four hours last night

This book is absolutely beautifully written and well worth a read. I read her first novel 'The Secret Life of Bees' and enjoyed that but felt this one was far better. It's about a happily married woman who returns to the island where she was born to look after her mentaly ill mother and uncovers secrets of her past as well as falling in love with a monk from the monestry who is waiting to take his final vows. Her life is turned upside down. A really lovely read for anyone who has ever been in love. It's not slushy, just beautiful.
