It would have to be very situation dependant but as a rule I don't tell lies as they just end up causing trouble.

WYOWY take the afternoon (well 1 and a 1/2 after school!) off work and feel awful about it?

yes I would feel awful about it - I hate ringing in sick, I don't know how to make a noise like a headache... ;)
