I know it's a little bit tricky to say what's weather will be like when you live that near of sea. It's easier where I live locally to prefer more what do you see by yourself, hear or feel or smell about the weather - not what they say on Tv or Radio or Paper. It's nature itself that tells you what it'll be like - sound of wind, movements of the waves, colour of the sky or clouds, how animals and insects behave, what does old peoples bones tell, how the smoke from a fire or fog moves etc. It's said over here that we'll get our winter and spring from Siberia - when the winds turns to come from over there - we'll have snow and frost that last until it's spring.

Children are amazed these days when you can say them that 'Listen. This wind sounds excatly like that it'll rain soon.' And on that day it'll rain. Because wind sounds spesific before the rain.

Temperatures plunged to -10 earlier today as forecasters issued warnings of more heavy falls of snow in the Eastern half of the country.
With the cold air from Northern Europe gradually moving northwards,Lincolnshire and the NE of England and Scotland were expected to feel the full force of snow falls.
Blizzards could contnue through Friday until warmer air sweeps across the country on Saturday.
In the SE which has borne the brunt of severe weather thus far, there has been disrution to travel aggravating fears of petrol shortages.
The weather hit a number of sporting fixtures and many football matches were called off last night

Temperature here according to the weather station reached a max of only 0.5C but last night it only dropped to -1.6.
Just arrived home and some of the roads are glassy !
Trying to get off the industrial estate was interesting even with very light acceleration and second gear ,there was just enough grip to creep forward and climbing the last part of the estate here before coming down the other side to park in the drive was bad.
And the Met Office radar shows the wet area that's producing the snow heading this way so maybe a couple of hours before it reaches here.

I don't mind the snow as at least there is some grip but the ice is impossible ,if you do something wrong it's almost impossible to get out of it.

We are lucky here as most of the time the snow misses here.

In the past when we have had snow we tended to get a lot.
So far we've had two lots this time ,the first being about an inch which thawed then that night we had a couple of inches in under an hour. I know I has about 3 inches on the car which took a while to clear. In fact the snow that I didn't clear off the roof of the car has not melted yet.

Looking at the weather station charts the temperature only got above freezing around midday remaining about 0.5 below for the rest of the daylight hours.

If I thought we were likely to continue to get more snow for a while I'd be tempted to get a spare set of wheels with mud/snow tyres. They work very well off road in mud/gravel and while you have snow they should be better than normal tyres but when it turns to ice I don't think they'd be any better off. I've only used these tyres in mud/gravel conditions and know how well they work as about 15 years ago we ran an Auto-grass race car (MK1 Escort group 2A) for a season which despite the name is almost always on a mud track. And I test drove a prepared 1600 MK1 Escort in similar conditions.

This weather thing has a mind of it's own. Yesterday I saw a large area that was giving snow approach on the Met Office radar then break up as it aproached here.
This morning going by the radar I should be in the middle of a blizzard but there's nothing apart from the odd flake.
Strange ,you can see why it's so difficult to forecast what's going to happen.
