I didn't think rechargeable batteries were strong enough for cameras?

NiMh and Lithium based rechargeables have much higher current levels than the old Ni-Cads.

Ni-Cad AAA are typically 220mAh where NiMh start from 550mAh and the latest versions around now in the 900 - 1000 mAh.

The older digital cameras had a job to start up using even Alkaline batteries as I remember the problems we had to a early Philips Camera finding batteries that would supply enough current to allow it to be switched on and at the time finding high current AA Ni-cads was a lot harder. Now most quality batteries will operate the old thing.

But without high current rechargeable batteries the cost of replacing the batteries all the time would make using Digital very expensive.

Just checked and the battery pack for the Nikon camera is a Lithium-Ion rated at 1400mAh and as I said I can get upwards of 1000 shots depending on flash and Auto-focus (this is due to the motor in the lens).

I don't know what a pack of Duracell Ultra / M3 AAA cost these days but I'd guess at least £2 so two battery changes would cover the cost of a set of 1Ah NiMh AAA. I know there is a few quid extra for the charger but as a set of NiMh is good for between 500 and 1000 recharges it's worth the investment.

Today I went shopping and made a purchase, considering I'm supposed to be saving not the best idea but it was just one thing... THIS book. Spotted it last week but was buying birthday presents for people so used some money from my pay this week (yes, the pay that was docked because I was given permission to leave half an hour early on Thursday  My boss is so grippy, it's nae even funny. I am never out of that shop on time by the time we get all the customers out and then do the end of the day stuff - in fact with the 3 days a week I'm in there the time that I am there over usually combines to half an hour, often more, and they take it off. It is quite pathetic but I won't go into all the different stories or we'd be here all day.) errrr yes, just a slight rant there!!

But yes, the book looks pretty interesting and if it's anything like the music that goes with the show that has been made about it it should be good.

Was fun shopping today, I love raking for random stuff! Especially in shops like The Pier, music shops, book shops etc. There's also this huge looking Au Naturale shop that you pass depending on where we're going in Aberdeen and I soooo want to go in. My family get a bit fed up of me because I don't even necessarily like the stuff that the shops sell but hey, there tends to be lots of pink and you don't actually have to buy anything - just look!

I love searching secondhand bookshops ,though I don't think there are many left in this area these days.

Did you get your book from WHSmith ? As there have it for just over £9. They are a great source of new books at reduced prices in the high street. On-line it's always between Amazon and Play. Amazon are normally cheaper but often the postage takes the price over the Play price.
Have to admit that I normally know what I want before I go shopping so browsing doesn't normally come into it but there again some Saturdays we do a round of the charity shops as they can have bargins but a lot are now wise to giving something away for almost nothing. But even the careful one still slip up from time to time.

No I got it from Ottakars Larry. Was in WHSmith too but never spotted it in there last week so just went to Ottakars, they had it for 11 pounds. Know what you mean about their reduced prices, WHSmith is a fantastic shop - I could spend hours in there!

I usually go shopping with a plan as well but if I'm in the mood I love just being able to have a good look about!

If your in the market for a satnav that can have speed cameras added checkout your local Halfords.
They has some Navman iCN 520 incorrectly advertised in-store for £199.99. They will honor the price if they have any in stock. They adverted is a properly printed insert in the display / fixture. They claim they have recalled them and that the system lists them for £299.99. But the ticket under the 199.99 one showed 249.99 when the assistant removed them from the display.
On the last part note that Argos have them for £249.99.

Adding the cameras is very easy.
Download the TomTom .CSV database file ,remove the header using notepad .Then use POI Edit to convert it to Navman .CSV format.
Install and launch the Navman software the comes with it select POI from the Map menu load the converted file select save to device set the visual and audial alert and import a bitmap for the Icon and send to the Nav. Job done.

Up to date files can be found a round the web or you can pay a £2 fee and download the latest from one site.
I found the Tomtom files the easiest to convert.
All takes less than 5 minutes.

Books - It's between WHSmith ,Amazon ,and Play.com.
With the last two Amazon is often cheaper until you add the postage where as the price you see on Play includes postage.
But you get a better range of titles generally with Amazon.
New titles are always cheap at WHSmith.

For Potter fans Pre-Ordered WHSmith is cheapest ,2nd by a small amount is Play lastly Amazon (let down with the postage again). This is based on the last release.

Jezi ,I found this Pink bag at work today and knowing how you like all things Pink you were one of the first people who came to mind. I do know someone else who collects things in Pink who will get the bag.

When I found it it contained a baby intercom that had been returned to Philips faulty.

Hope the picture brings out the true colour of the Pink.

Larry that bag is FABulous, the wee butterflies are lovely too! Thank you for sharing the picture.

I don't know any shops that have pink bags.

This one is a Lingerie shop but I erased it from the picture to detract from any inappropriate comments that might have arisen.

The bag regardless of whether your a fan of Pink or not is so bright that it gets the wow response on first sight from most people ,so the marketing people got it right as once seen you wouldn't forget about them for some time.

Went shopping today and never bought anything pink for probably the first time ever. However I did buy a new CD which is the 'Hot Mikado' soundtrack. I've heard a bit of it before and it is so good, basically all the songs from the original 'The Mikado' totally jazzed up - seriously worth a listen. It was only £6.99 in a leading music shop of three letters too.

Got a new jacket too, but I never had to pay. In fairness though, I didn't even want a new jacket - mum says she is sick of me always wearing my coat or pink zip up things. But yes, it's 'smart' (her word) and quite nice actually.

Just been looking around and have discovered some good price drops.

If your in need of a memory card then take a look at http://www.valuemedia.co.uk

1GB SD from £17 + Delivery + VAT
xD are very cheap as well. I bought a genuine Olympus 512Meg with panorama function delivered for £25.

Also Jessops have reduced the prices of Digital SLRs again. The Nikon D50 body is now £330 delivered which is a lot cheaper than it was July 2005 when I bought mine. If you need an EN-EL3 compatible battery for one then Valuemedia is about £25 delivery. Think Jessops were about £39 + delivery when I bought mine.

At this rate Digital SLRs will be about the same price bracket as the decent compact Digital was. And everybody will be producing even better pictures.
