1. I watch because I like to see how different people interact with different types of people. Language shouldn't pose a barrier ,watching the why people do things ,their body language and expressions will tell you so much more than the spoken words.

2. Yes I'd love to. The is a detailed very honest answer in the Auditions thread.

3. Yes .2003 Video application and audition in Birmingham. And 2005.
Most of you already know this.

4. I prefer the more normal everyday kind of HM ,they are far easier to relate to. They aren't constantly playing against the others or trying to put on a act. Or trying to do a constant fame academy thing while in the house.

5. While I'm sure they have their audience I think they need to widen the audience again. Now they have more family members watching following on the CBB4 and with the rating battle with ITV they would do well to move away from what they have done in the the last few years.

6. I think there has been a swing in this direction which I'm not a fan of.

7. There used to be fun tasks ,things like the world records. I'd like to see things that they could build upon later. Skills maybe.

8. With the problems with relationships with people in the house they should do what they did in OZ last year were part of the contract was that they were single. 3 who later turned out to have partners were removed pending eviction. One was allowed to stay eventually but the other two were replaced.

9. I've answered this else where but the length of time that people will watch depends on many factors. Interesting HM ,a good production team ,interesting tasks ,possible relationships etc. Plus whether there are other good shows running at the same time to draw the viewers away.
The UK has I think the shortest show. Most other countries run for around 100 days ,the longest being 114 days. The only exception was the Germans but the viewing figures were poor when they ran for a whole year. The low viewing figures seems to have continued with the follow up 'The village'.

10. Others have mentioned the twins idea but as it's already been used in a couple of countries it probably won't happen. I think they'll try the celeb acting as a member of the public ,though they wouldn't be much of a celeb unless in maybe prosthetic make-up if they were unknown. Unless they import them from some country know their shows hadn't been scened in the UK. The introduction maybe of a fines system for rule breaking esp the forgetting to wear the mics. In OZ the has a prize of 100000 $AU but with fines by the end it was down to around 600,000.
The did in the final weekly games the chance to win the money back. But it added to the tension.

11. A basic run without the evil bits might still work. Encourage teamwork with the tasks have a weekly rewards room but maybe for a couple of HM rather than a group.

12. I really don't know but a peaceful theme would be good.

I have watched all the series so far. I got hooked with series 1, without really contemplating my reasons for wanting to watch it, but I guess if I were to analyse this, the simple answer would be, because I like the format, the fact that you get the chance to see vastly different people interacting together and the fact that its both unpredictable and yet familiar all at the same time. I miss it when its not on.


02. Would you like to take part ?

In an ideal world yes. However, I dont like the media aspect of it. I wouldnt want people selling stories on me and I dont think I could cope with the aftereffects.

03. Have you ever tried ,be it Video or Open auditions ?

No. I once auditioned for Supermarket Sweep though.

04. What type of HM would you like to see ?

Any "type" housemate is fine, as long as they have some depth to their characters. Even the game-players can be fun (but sometimes painful) to watch.

05. Do you think they should continue with the outrageous almost freakish HMs of recent years ?

Personally, I dont consider any of the housemates freakish or outrageous. They just have different motivations and interests in life. What I can't be doing with is the very obvious "wannabe" and not much else types. I wish it were possible to recapture the more innocent naivety of the earlier series when it wasn't all about making sure you got noticed on screen, it was about living and taking part in the house.

06. Do you think think tasks these days are just humiliating ?
No, if you sign up you should know what to expect. I would have failed any task involving fish guts though.


07. Do you think tasks should be constructive or meaningful ?

I think they need to stimulate the housemates. Whether that is by constructive team building or meaningful sharing, I dont care which, but there is FAR too much time in that house where they have absolutely NOTHING to do. Watching the live feed taught me that much.

08. Do you think only single people should take part ?

No. I like diversity. I dont watch it for the love interest aspect, although its always nice if something positive and genuine evolves in the duration.

09. How long should the show run for ?

Its been fine lengthwise so far, Im looking forward to this one being 13 weeks. However, I'd like it much better if it started slightly later and ran through to the end of August, rather than halfway through May - end July.

10. What twists if any would you like to see employed in the next series ?

I couldnt possibly come up with anything as imaginative as they seem to every year.

I think it moved away from that around series 5. It would be hard to go back to that. For me it still is that, but to Endemol its about grabbing the ratings, and so the outrageous stuff has to get progressively more outrageous.

12. What do you think the theme will be this year ?

I have been hooked since series 1, I enjoy seeing how people behave in such a closed enviroment, and how they cope living with complete strangers 24/7

02. Would you like to take part ?

I couldnt personally live in such a confined space, being watched, id cry having to look at myself daily in those mirrors and wondering if my bum looked big!

No, thought about going to an audition just for the laugh and experience of seeing first hand what its like, but always say "maybe next year"

04. What type of HM would you like to see ?

I like to see a HM who plays the "game" but also keeps their dignity, and doesnt feel stripping off or shouting down other hm's is the way to go, but at the same time is not a pussy and will say what they think

yes, cos whats normal anyway? everyone has their own take of what normal is, so anyone should be able to go in

I have found the tasks much more funny as times gone on, yes they can be humiliating, but contestants know the score, and as cringey at times as they are to watch, it can also show different sides to a hm

At times yes, they dont give hm's enough to do, and the tasks could be more invigorating and challenging, bored hm's make for boring viewing

No, plus id like to see a youngish mum (25 upwards) go in there

That all nominations are done face to face, not in the dairy room, the hm's have to give honest reasons in front of the whole group why they are nominating who they are

Think its still got that same concept, just its much more OTT now.
This is moving a lil' bit away from the question larry, but one thing I do wish theyd go back to is the live A feed and live B feed interactive streaming, so we have a choice, its so annoying when the cameraman, has us watching someone kipping in the early hours, when elsewhere, in the house, something is actually happening! (rant over)

I love watching how people interact but prefered it when people were more 'normal' and it was less of the freak show it has been in recent years.

I would love to but could never leave my children were I to last longer than a week.

I have gone off it more recently. I think its because people in there now know what to expect when they come out so go in with contracts or hopes of in mind etc

Some yes some no but the bingo in BB4 was just plain boring

It would be good to challenge them a bit and get them working as a team

No a good cross section is what I enjoy.

No longer than it is I get get bored!

Yes I always enjoyed the earlier ones. Noew there is as much hype going in as there was when the first lot came out!

04. What type of HM would you like to see ? People who are interesting, and who have depth to their characters. Rather than people who appear interesting for the first five minutes but can't keep it up.
05. Do you think they should continue with the outrageous almost freakish HMs of recent years ? I don't like to label people, but the ones in recent years have just been going OTT to get noticed, and it's not made for pleasant viewing at times.

07. Do you think tasks should be constructive or meaningful ? They should have a mixture of tasks, and definitely have enough to keep them occupied so that they provide more entertainment for the viewers.

12. What do you think the theme will be this year ? I don't know - but it would be nice if it could be non confrontational for a change. I like it when Big Brother has a sense of fun and playfulness. With a slightly evil side too.

01. Why do you watch BB ?
I like the way their relationships with each other develops, the group-dynamics and the sheer voyeurism of watching a social group develop. Also it's addictive. You start to feel like you know them.

From the safety of my living room I'd say yes. In reality No. Being famous makes people judge you on everything you do and say and we all say stupid things sometimes. I couldn't take being 'judged by the nation' 24/7.

No, I'd love to go along and observe one tho.


04. What type of HM would you like to see ?
Spencer, Cam, Darren, Scott, someone who's not arrogant or bullying who's just in it to have fun and enjoy the experience

No, that's not reality that's pandering to the masses. One or two maybe but it's been overdone imo.

Not really. If the BB psychologists have done their job right (:roll:) then the people should be strong enough to laugh at themselves a bit.

Almost always yes, for example Jade learned Semaphore and prob still knows it now. A bit of silliness is always fun too tho 'Look at me I'm a big Egg'

Yes really. It always seems to split up couples and that's taking reality tv too far and messing with peoples lives too much

Maybe a Trueman show thing, where all are actors apart from one housemate and then the 'real' housemates come in about half way through

Probably they'll get even more 'evil' the BB psychologists will be either inept or ignored and the producers will choose emotionally unstable people in the hope that they will have a breakdown and increase the ratings... Oh wait it's been done...

I honestly don't know I guess I like people watching I can't go out with my mates without sitting and watching what other people do, it's become a habit now.

01. Why do you watch BB ?
Cos I'm extremely nosy, it's great entertainment, I love seeing how people get on... or rather, don't, as the case usually is. It's just part of my summer.

02. Would you like to take part ?
I'm at the stage in my life when yes, I would like to do something like Big Brother. Young, single and with very few responsibilities. And I hate my job. I wouldn't say no to the opportunities to make a bit of cash, and would love to have my 15 minutes of fame. I would geniunely only want it short-term though. Being permanently famous doesn't appeal to me.
HOWEVER, I'm far too much of a fan to do it, and I'm probably not thick-skinned enough.

I've been to the open auditions the past 2 years. The first year, I just kept a friend company, and watched the proceedings. Last year, I plucked up the courage to audition, and I'm very glad I did. A great day out, and a great experience. I'm auditioning this year in london as well, just for the craic!!

04. What type of HM would you like to see ?
Genuinely friendly, chatty people, with far more positive qualities than negative ones. Not afraid to speak their mind though. Not overly nice or anything though - arguing and bitching is healthy in small doses!

05. Do you think they should continue with the outrageous almost freakish HMs of recent years ?
No. I think that fact that they've tended to be voted out fairly early (with exceptions, obviously), and that Anthony and Chantelle (two geniunely "nice" people) have won the last 2 series' should tell the producers something.

Nope. I think some are hilarious. The tasks have often injected some much needed humour into the show- especially during BB6. (Box task anyone?)

Have a mixture of both. Fun mini-tasks, with a slightly more meaningful weekly task.

No, although it's good to have a fair number of single people. A) because I'm an absolute sucker for a good old romance, and b ) how many relationships have been ruined as a result of Big Brother?! lol!

No more than 11 weeks.

Not sure. Don't like all the nomination fiddling though.

I think it still is that - just not to such a large extent. If they can carry on from Celeb BB, then I'll be happy!

01. Why do you watch BB?

It's a living example of group dynamics, pure psychology - but it's weird situation, because HMs has to nominate each other regularly 'out' from the game (it's stressfull) and BB can change rules any time, unexpectable.

02. Would you like to take part?

No - my situation of life doesn't allow me to take a part of it anymore. But if I were younger, free and single without kids, I could try - just for an experience and for experimental reasons. Like I'd have gone to the army as well.

03. Have you ever tried, be it Video or Open auditions?

Nope.

04. What type of HM would you like to see?

I'd like to see different ethnic groups mixed together who have strong backrounds of their daily basic values of lives. Lutheran or another protestant, islamic, high-class hindu or low class hindu, orthodox, buddhist, jewish, jehowas wittnes, mormon, catholic, scientologist, antroposofist, etc.

I'd like to see also persons that are for example bilangual but are having passport of UK.

I'd like to see also that HM's looks different from each other by the colour of their skin, colour of their hair and shape of their bodies.

I have nothing against the fact that one or few of the HMs could be handicapped or something, if they have been by themselves in auditions and wanted to join the BB Game.

Not freakish - that sounds for me boring already.

They shouldn't be humiliating (the box task with condoms was ) - but they should be challenging. I don't find humiliating (nominating each other is humiliating from a one point of view and being voted out byt the audience is humiliating from a one point of view) entertaining at all.

Like I wrote, tasks should be challenging. It's a different story if they are constructive or meaningfull. Tasks should be entertaining to the audience.

08. Do you think only single people should take part?

I guess it's impossible to find 12 single people in the House. I have and ideal opinion that there are usually more mentally balanced people who are having in their real lives permanent relationships - but permanent relationships could mean lots of friendships as well = social life.

09. How long should the show run for?

Three months is my limit. That's 12 weeks. It'd be boring if it lasts longer.

10. What twists if any would you like to see employed in the next series?

They should have an ex-BB-winner to visit the House for 1 to 3 days, living with them.

They should have a visitor for a few hours, who is the most popular Celeb at the moment in the UK.

They should have a visitor for a few hours, who is well known Politician at the moment in the UK.

They should have an extra HM who's a big Celeb somewhere else than in UK and HM's doesn't know it.

They should have an extra HM who's a fresh immigrant learning daily basics about what it is like to live in UK.

They should have a test of their condition at the beginning and when they are leaving the House and few of them should have an extra task to train/exercise with coach in a secret/unallowed room daily during their staying in the House.

They should have one HM who has been in prison and who's living normal daily life after that.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Yes - absolutely. I like the original idea.

12. What do you think the theme will be this year?

I hope it's something like a 'Promised Land', where the main task is to co-operate in peace (how on earth is that possible anyway) with each other, no matter of the different backrounds of the HMs.

And they should have a fitness room with equipments in the House and rules for using it.

Because I find people fascinating. Initially I watched it just to see how the HM's got on - now coming on here and debating with others is probably the most important aspect of BB for me.

I'd certainly like to see how I'd cope in the House, but the being on t.v. bit would put me off!

The main thing I'd like to see is a true variety of housemates. Different backgrounds, different ages, different viewpoints. People with stories and opinions. Em - so no-one like Sam from BB6, then.

I think that even outrageous HM's have their value. I'd prefer a Kemal (with all his annoying traits) to a Sam anyday. A genuine 'freak' is worth 10 silly bimbos. (Are you sensing a theme emerging here? )

Not entirely. It IS a t.v. show, so the programme makers have to come up with stuff that will make the public watch....(which ruins quite a bit of BB, in some ways)....

That would be desirable, yes. Maybe they should borrow some ideas from my daughter's youth club.

Absolutely not!!! Society doesn't just consist of single (and 'young' people). As far as I know, it's BB - not 'Elstree Uncovered' - 3 outrageous months of hot 18-30 non-stop action'- although.....

I'd actually prefer to see three 8-week long series each year. Oh, and 2 3-week long Celeb BB's too.

How about actually sticking to the rules..... And Russell Brand going into the house for 3 weeks to live as a HM

It's sadly too late for that. At this stage, a show like that would seem like a programme made for the Open University (which is what I thought I was watching, the first time I stumbled across BB1!)

I haven't a clue. Seems End'em'all rarely stick to their themes, if you ask me.

I watch the streaming a lot, BB is ambient TV that you can have on in the background, maybe it will be fascinating, maybe not. That makes it unique.

02. Would you like to take part ?

Yes. I wouldn't win unless it was a total freakshow, but I'm sure it would be a lot of fun, and life-changing in a good way. I do have more skeletons in my cupboard than Bone and Bone the Bone Merchants though ;-) What I'd REALLY like to do is the week long trial-run that they do to try out tasks and camera angles etc... all the fun but none of the publicity!

Not yet,but this year for the first time I'm in a position where I could take 1-12 weeks (or however long) out of my life without everything collapsing any more than it already has. Working on the old adage that it's always better to regret something you have done than something you haven't done, I'm auditioning this year.

04. What type of HM would you like to see ?

People who DONT want to be famous. Being a z-list celebrity is drawback to appearing on BB, not the sole reason to do it. I really enjoyed watching the non-housematey people... Sandy, Ahmed, Germaine Greer and so on.

05. Do you think they should continue with the outrageous almost freakish HMs of recent years ?

No. Partly because after Kinga there is nowhere left to go, but mostly because the last few series of BB have been constantly on the edge of violence, which led to Endemol not being able to let the alcohol flow freely or be 'evil' when it would have lifted the show. I'd love a return to the show being about Big Brother interacting with people rather than the Makosi show or the how long before Kitten goes show.

Normal people in extraordinary circustances is a good recipie for a TV show. Z-list fame and a shot at £100,000 should come at a price, and that price should be to be put through the wringer for the public's viewing pleasure... so yes I do think they are sometimes humiliating, but that's not a bad thing! The pointless non-task obstable course from BB5 was a stroke of genius

07. Do you think tasks should be constructive or meaningful ?

I'm not fussed if they are or not

08. Do you think only single people should take part ?

As much as you can legislate people's relatioships... yes. In BB1 I found Darren leaving his kids quite distasteful, and the constant revelations that sex isn't on the cards because Mr I'm-Bisexual-and-Single is straight and engaged always make be less inclined to watch, but I'm not sure how you can stop a contestant meeting Mr/Mrs Right the day before they go into the pre-show process.

09. How long should the show run for ?

As long as it needs to. Make the decision as late as the schedules will allow, preferably once the HMs are settled in and we have a good idea how long they will keep on being interesting!

10. What twists if any would you like to see employed in the next series ?

I love to be surprised... but please no more vote-rigging, immunity and secret missions that affect who goes. I'm thoroughly fed up with the '2 or more people with most nominations are up for the vote' concept being thrown out the window every time it looks like Endemol are about to lose their 'star'. Bring back "Who Goes? You Decide"!

I think the American idea of allowing nomination discussions could be tried at least once, but what I'd REALLY like to see is some disincentive for forcing cuts to the audio. Knock £100 off the prize fund every time the audio goes and the stream would quickly get a whole lot more watchable!

11. Do you think they should return to the original concept, which is basically a study of how a group of strangers interact in a captive environment. ?

Yes!

12. What do you think the theme will be this year ?

The recent experiments with BB having more of a personality ('un-lucky!') worked well so I think we'll see more of that. BB could easily venture further into 'game for a laugh/beadles about' practical joke territory, which is a proven ratings winner (Makosi in the cage pointed the way for me) so I'm crossing my fingers and saying 'practical jokes'
