This household has lived with diets for as long as I can remember so I've grown up around just about every major diet plan.

I've followed one diet going to a slimming class after I put a few stone on while immobilised following a motorbike crash .I lost about 2 1/2 stone.

When I was at school doing loads sports etc I had around 5000 calories a day and weighed 9 1/2 stone despite being 6ft. But as I became less activity exercise wise I had to cut back as I wasn't burning it off.

The current plan the house works by is the Slimming World plan. For those following it there is so much you can eat you never need to go hungry and it does work. I don't attend a class as I'm more than happy with how things are now. I know without thinking what I can and can't eat. I know that if a put a chocolate bar in front of me that I'll eat the lot so I don't buy them in the first place. My only indulgence is Sunday/Monday tea which is Stagg Dynamite Chilli with either wholemeal bread or Naan bread. It wouldn't be allowed if I was following the plan but it works for me. I can maintain a weight around 11st normally without too much thought.
People at the local club (I transport my mother to and from it once a week) have lost over 5st. Only a 2LB a week over a period of time make a big difference and a gradual lost has a better chance of stay off rather than big losses each week. Someone or an event as motivation helps keep you going esp if you have a back week.

Stick with it .A little bit of exercise will help but don't over do it as muscle weighs more.

Oh dear I'm starting to sound like the woman who runs the club who I hear every week.

Just try to stay in the 'zone' as I like to call it. When you have the brain in gear to do it, it almost becomes easy. Well easier anyway!

I agree with HD once you get into a good regime it does become easier, especially when you start to see the results :D

Well done, milly - eventhought I'll get confused every time when you use lbs's or stones, or whatever, because I'm used to kg's! :D

I'll have to agree with larry, that I know many people who has been doing lots of sports and if they have had to cut all that sports rapidly out from their lives they have put on some weight before they have studied to eat within reason because of their present situation of their lives. But it isn't easy to learn new eating habits after you have been able to eat every day 3000 to 5000 calories per day.

By the way - it's Pancake Sunday (Shrove Sunday) tomorrow over here and we'll be eating traditionally these (pancakes, shrove buns and pea soup):

I'm also on a diet although I've not stuck to it this week and ate a few things I shouldn't have and had a few beers on Saturday which were also off limits. That said, I've only put on 2lb's from it so I'm still down a stone and a half since 02/01/06 which isn't too bad.

Good luck to my fellow dieters. I have a confession to make. I HAVE JUST BEEN VERY NAUGHTY and eaten a whole bag of honey roasted peanuts. (They smelt so nice...)

Is it easy to do? and how expensive is it compared to other online diets?
