thanks for that!
I'm the same as you really - I've got no intentions of wanting to be a housemate, but auditioning in itself is such a good experience. I've been the past couple of years, and it's a good day out - interesting to see what goes on and all that!

I've not got any gimmicks planned. Just going to be me :D

UK-wide hunt for new contestants in Channel 4 reality show hits Aberystwyth this weekend.

BUDDING Chantelles and and Nasty Nick wannabes may get their shot at fame this week-end when the Big Brother cast-i n g c o a c h r o l l s i n t o Aberystwyth.

Makers of the show, Endemol, have launched a UK-wide talent search for the sev-enth series of the show that grips the nation every summer. The Big Brother bus will arrive in Aberystwyth on Sat-urday morning where all the hopefuls will be met by mem-bers of the production team. Those who impress the most will be asked to enter the diary room and will have 60 seconds to sell themselves.

A spokesperson for the show said: “Applicants can do anything that will make them stand out from the thousands who turn up to try and convince Big Brother why the nation would want to watch them over the summer.”

All applicants must be over 18 by the summer and should bring some photo ID such as a driving licence or passport. This is the first time that auditions have been held out-side of the major cities and that is thanks to the co-operation of National Express who supply the “beast of bus”.

Endemol hope that they get a large turnout and have advised those coming along to wrap up warm as it could be a long day. The Big Brother bus will roll in to Bank Square (or Owain Glyndwr Square as it’s also known) at 9am this Saturday, 18 February.

Series 7 starts later this yearIT'S that time of year again when Manchester's weird, wonderful and unashamed wannabes queue for hours for their chance to enter the human goldfish bowl that is the Big Brother house.

Producers of the hit Channel 4 reality show are heading to Manchester tomorrow - casting their net with the hope that a bumper crop of hopefuls will pour into the open auditions, hoping to grasp their 15 minutes of fame.

This summer will be the seventh series of Big Brother, fronted again by Davina McCall, and the public's appetite for the "mother of all reality shows" shows no sign of abating.

Indeed, the latest celebrity version of the show - which made an overnight star of non-celebrity winner Chantelle Houghton - gained the largest viewing figures yet.

Big Brother co-executive producer Paul Osborne tells me he is preparing for a record number of people at the auditions at New Century House on Corporation Street in the morning, beating last year's 3,000.

Northern climate

And he has one big hope - that this year Manchester hopefuls will bear in mind our northern climate and wrap up warm.

Last year, St John's Ambulance had to hand out foil blankets to many scantily-clad hopefuls to avoid them getting hypothermia.

"While some people get dressed up in weird and wonderful ways to attract attention, more often than not people take their clothes off," says Paul.

"It might make you stand out in the crowd, but once you get into the auditions it's personality and individual character that counts.

"As much as people might want to strip off or wear very little to the auditions, it's probably going to be very cold and I'd advise people to wrap up warm."

First series

Paul, who has worked on the show since the very first series, tells me that everyone who queues up for the auditions will be seen by a Big Brother representative - and gives the sage advice to wannabes to "just be yourself".

But he wasn't giving away any secrets as to what we can expect from the new series of BB - won last year by Geordie dancer, Anthony Hutton.

"I can't even confirm how many contestants there will be this year," he says.

"If we gave away any secrets it would just ruin it for the contestants. All I can say is that Big Brother will be as unpredictable as ever."

The Big Brother auditions are open to anyone aged over 18. You must produce photo ID as proof of age and identity. Auditions start at 9am on Saturday, February 18 at New Century House, Corporation Street, Manchester.

Fame-hungry wannabe celebs in South Wales will get the chance to impress Big Brother this week.

Producers of the hit Channel 4 show are coming to Cardiff to search for the next batch of contestants. Anyone ready to put themselves forward should be willing to put themselves in the public eye 24 hours a day.

It is one of several auditions being held across the UK to put together the group of contestants to live life in the high-profile fish bowl.

A Big Brother spokesman said: "Everyone who queues up will be met by the production team and those who impress will go through to the next stage.

"Applicants can do or say anything that will make them stand out from the thousands who turn up."

The auditions are being held in Cardiff City Hall in Cathays Park on Wednesday, February 22, from 9am.

This spring we've been all over the country looking for this summer's biggest stars, but there's still time for you to make it to one of our auditions!

The final Big Brother 7 auditions take place at these venues:

Birmingham - Saturday 25th February

London - Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th February

For the first time in the history of the auditions, we've also gone out to the country in The Big Brother Casting Coach, in association with National Express. It's final visit will be Penzance - Saturday 25th February! Click here for more details.

At each location the producers will meet everyone who queues up and select people who stand out to go through to the next stage.

You can do or say anything that will make you stand out from the thousands of other applicants to convince Big Brother why the nation will want to watch you over the summer.

If you are picked to go through to the next stage, you'll enter one of the Diary Rooms and be asked to sell yourself to Big Brother for one full minute.

It could be a long day so please wrap up warm and bring something to eat and drink.

Any applicants who have specific access requirements should call 020 8222 4356 and leave their name and telephone number. A member of the production team will get back to them with details.

Please note: You must be over eighteen in the summer of 2006 to apply, so you'll need to bring along photo ID (such as a passport or driving licence) as proof of your age and identity. No ID, no entry. You must also be available in summer 2006 to take part.

"Penwith, this is Big Brother, would potential contestants please come to the Wharfside this Saturday."

For the first time in the history of the hit Channel 4 show producers are visiting some of the more remote parts of the country in search of new contestants to enter the infamous house.

And this weekend the Casting Coach will be heading to Penzance to give Penwith's wannabe stars a chance to impress and appear in the seventh season of the game show.

Katie Nicholls, of Endemol, explained: "This is a new thing for us; obviously we hold main auditions in the large cities and get an overwhelming response, but we wanted to give people who can't attend those auditions the opportunity to have a go."

The coach will be pulling up at Wharfside Shopping Centre from 9am this Saturday, February 25, with auditions taking place throughout the day.

Penzance will be the last of just five towns in the UK and Ireland to be visited by the bus.

A spokesman for Big Brother producers, Endemol said: "Everyone who queues up will be met by the production team and those who impress will be selected to go through to the next stage.

"Anyone chosen to go through will get one minute to sell themselves to Big Brother in the Diary Room. Applicants can do or say anything that will make them stand out from the thousands who turn up to try and convince Big Brother why the nation would want to watch them over the summer."

All applicants must be aged over 18 in the summer of 2006 and available to take part all summer 2006.

All those turning up to audition will be required to take photo ID (such as a passport or driving licence) as proof of age and identity.

Applicants are also advised to wrap up warm and bring something to eat and drink, as it could be a long day.

More information on all audition locations for Big Brother seven can be found at http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother . Any applicants who have specific access requirements should call 020 8222 4356 and leave their name and telephone number.

A member of the production team will get back to them with details.

I'm not impressed with how the trains are running today !
Needless to say I'm back home and not going to the auditions.

Lets start at the beginning.
Everything started very well ,up at 5am ,out my 6am ,tickets bought just after 6.30am. Train arrives platform 3 monitor says Birmingham New St so everybody gets on. But train just sits there around 7.30 I spot the monitor for Platform 2 is now displaying Birmingham. So I get off the train to check. Platform 3 now says London ,Platform 2 say Birmingham but next train 8.58 !
Now going by last year arriving on site around 9.20 meant a 6 hour wait queuing so arriving an hour later could only be worse plus it's not exactly warm with a bitter wind blowing to make it feel a lot colder. So I left the station and came home. £15 down the drain (9.98 for the tickets and 5 parking).
I also have a bad feeling that there are now a load of students travelling in the wrong direction ,as I think they were too busy chatting to notice things around them but they were also meant to be going to the auditions.

Good luck to those who do go.

I wouldn't have hurt the announcement to have been put over the trains tanoy. The was some announcement regarding platform 3 but it was outside and everybody had closed the doors on the train due to the cold.
The previous outgoing London train had been moved from Platform 3 to Platform 1.
None of the monitors were displaying anything about delays total balls-up really. What I should really have done was to have gone back on the train and tell the students. They also had no idea where to find the auditions despite using the internet so I could have left them with my laminated directions / map.

There's always next year and everything is done ready. The radio would have worked very well given the close environment and I would have heard every thing BB / Security said.

And this was this years jacket complete with epaulets with BB letters and the vinyl Blue BB badges. Issued originally by Humberside Constabulary but said previously said I had a black jacket to wear from the station to the site. Both Gore-Tex so very warm. Minus the belt with the radio. The radio was in the right breast pocket with a covert ear-peice.

You can say that again. A freshly cleaned one of those jackets is fluorescent ,but with the blue checkered bits I wasn't going to risk walking from the station in it. Mind you my Black Gore-tex jacket looks the part but I've removed all the marking.

If they do a BB8 I'll have another go.
It's a shame but they you go some things aren't meant to happen.

Hopefully someone found my planning useful which is why I put it on a webpage. I probably do too much planning as I don't like leaving things to chance.
