WIFE Swap star Lizzie Bardsley has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

Last month The Sun revealed reality TV queen Lizzie, 32, was quizzed about alleged abuse.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said last night: “A 32-year-old woman from Rochdale has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and bailed until April 3.”

Former reality TV participant Lizzy Bardsley has been charged with multiple child cruelty offences, police have confirmed.

The 32-year-old mother-of-eight was charged with 10 counts of child cruelty relating to incidents which took place over a nine-year period.

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said she was due to appear in court to face the charges at the end of the week.

Bardsley, of Rochdale, Lancashire, first shot to fame on the hit Channel 4 show Wife Swap.

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "Elizabeth Bardsley of Hurstead Road in Milnrow was charged with the offences today and is due to appear at Rochdale Magistrates Court on Friday, April 7.

"The charges relate to offences which took place between 1996 and 2005."

She and husband Mark were branded 'scroungers' when it emerged the jobless pair raked in £37,500 in benefits for themselves and their children.

Bardsley's loud-mouth antics led to a number of other TV appearances and exposure in the newspapers since her appearance on the programme.

Wife Swap star Lizzy Bardsley has appeared in court charged with 10 counts of child cruelty.

Bardsley, 32, of Hursthead Road, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is accused of "systematic abuse", the hearing was told.

The mother-of-eight who shot to fame after appearing in the Channel 4 reality TV series spoke only to confirm her name and address and plead not guilty to the charges during the brief hearing at Rochdale Magistrates Court.

Wife Swap television star Lizzy Bardsley has appeared at Bolton Crown Court, Greater Manchester, over charges of child cruelty.

The 33-year-old, from Hurstead Road, Rochdale, denied three offences of wilful assault of a child under 16 and one count of wilful ill-treatment.

The alleged cruelty charges all relate to one child.

Ms Bardsley was released on unconditional bail. Her trial will begin on Wednesday.

She shot to fame for her antics on the Channel 4 reality TV series Wife Swap where two women move into each other's homes, swap lifestyles and look after their 'adopted' families.

Wife Swap star Lizzy Bardsley has been convicted of four offences of child cruelty.

A jury at Bolton Crown Court took just over three hours to find the mother-of-eight guilty of the offences, which relate to one child who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Bardsley, 33, of Milnrow, Rochdale, showed no reaction as the verdict was returned on the three charges of wilful assault of a child under 16 and one count of wilful ill-treatment.

She shot to fame for her loud-mouthed antics on the Channel 4 reality TV series.

Judge David Hernandez ordered the Probation Service to carry out a pre-sentence report in conjunction with social services.

He added that all sentencing options would remain open.

The case was adjourned until February 22 and Bardsley was granted bail on condition she resides at her home address.

Wife Swap star Lizzy Bardsley has been given an eight month sentence suspended for two years after being found guilty of four child cruelty charges.

The 33-year-old, from Rochdale, was found guilty of three charges of wilful assault of a child under 16 and one of wilful ill-treatment.

All the offences relate to one child, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Bardsley, who was also given a two year supervision order, shot to fame after appearing on the TV series Wife Swap.

Before passing sentence at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, Judge Hernandez, called Bardsley "pig headed" and "lacking in empathy" for initially refusing to take the support offered to her by social services.
