Btw my kids laugh constantly when the words poo, bum or willy are mentioned. Is laughing at swearing not just a grown up version of this?

 I seem to have written a post that takes 10 minutes to read and not managed to express myself very well.

I didn't mind the swearing, I did mind that it was the only joke of the evening, and was repeated ad infinitum. There was an understudy on as well, and perhaps the show lacked a bit of momentum as a result (IMO). Sorry you had to read all that waffle. :D

CT I think you expressed yourself very well in your post and it wasn't waffle at all. I think maybe I didn't explain myself. What I was trying to say is that it is my understanding that Jerry Springer the programme is completely full of swearing and isn't particularly funny, just horrifying really. So it sounds to me, that the stage show may have been true to the original programme.

Maybe it was fate that made me forget to put up the column this week seen as it would have been deleted anyway! Anyway... Monday's EE was rescued from the recycling box so here we go.

As you know my summaries don't tend to be of a very high standard so I'm trying to be very careful when summarising Cameron's views of Jerry Springer The Opera. So anything that is blatantly wrong can somebody who has read the column please tell me. It seems like he was left in two minds about the whole thing. He thought people were laughing with sheer embarrassment at the volume of swearing in the show and at times he did find some of the content offensive. However, "I admired the performers, the production and the concept of it as an extreme satire of that type of TV." On the other hand he had been at Magical of the Musicals which was a concert in the music hall on Tuesday with Marti Webb (aka the lady who owns an amaaaazing coat who he was in the panto with  ) and Wayne Sleep and he thought it was wonderful.

Wishing luck to the people who are fighting against fines for speeding although they were clocked by detector vans that were parked on double yellow lines. He believes that the cameras which detect average speeds are what are the best at stopping speeding. Enduring the curse of Big Brother with stalkers, hate mail and weird people turning up in places like his house and church. The farm which had to be tested for bird flu being only a few miles from where his parents live and how devastating the consequences would have been if the tests had come back positive.

And the final bit is about St Patricks Day and you can read it HERE.

I think that's about it, big apologies for being so lazy and taking ages this week - been rather busy and tired recently but really it's no excuse

No surprises there then!

There were elements that I found highly entertaining and certain parts that made me smart (yeh yeh, I know, should have stayed longer etc etc). My overall view is that it did not set out to deliberately mock Christianity (although it has to be said that it's doubtful whether anything similar referring to other faiths would have been allowed [Behtzi for example]), rather it was an extreme satirical poke at the JS telly genre that pushed the boundaries further than most people expect. Yes, I can understand why people are mortally offended, and yes I was offended in parts, particularly where I felt Jesus was inaccurately portrayed. Yes, there are embarrassing moments (I know that's a very personal thing) and part of it I suppose can be viewed in some degree of self-examination, ie 'why am I embarrassed/uncomfortable/offended by that particular aspect of the show?'. Understandably, there is every conceivable reaction to the show, from those who wouldn't dream of even going near it to those who have felt that it is worthy of awards.

At times I was wondering what the point of the show was - several times the question popped into my head. And then that nonsensical question/answer, 'does there have to be a point to "art"?'. Whether "JS - The Opera" can be described as art is anybody's opinion as well I suppose. Certainly from a musical and visual point of view it was put across very dynamically and skilfully (I didn't agree with the anti-JS pamphlet's opinion that the performers were 'ineffectual') so probably from an "art" perspective it was a success (hence, too, the awards).

Whether for the individual it was enjoyable/a success/entertaining comes down to personal opinion, and it's difficult to dispute an opinion.

Once again this week they have put up one bit of the column which seems a bit pointless - they must know I'd be out of a job if they put it all up ;) joking.

Anyway, click HERE for a bit on the smoking ban.

The main bit is about cooking and going out to host some of the Food Standard Agency roadshows with a chef called Wendy Barrie who is apparently great at coming up with meals to prepare that aren't too pricey. He says he enjoys cooking especially casseroles and when he came home the other day he found bottles of beer from one of his mates who works in the Orkney brewery, he poured some over beef olives, added some figs and after leaving it to simmer slowly it apparently tasted great.

Jodie Marsh possibly being banned from going round schools to talk about bullying because an MP discovered that she uses "the language of the bully" in her weblog when she's speaking about the other CBB housemates. He feels that 'celebrities' can have a good effect on campaigns but it's obviously no good going about saying one thing but carrying out another. Going to the beach with a very posh sounding picnic basket on Thursday to celebrate a friends birthday and the weather was very nice. Speaking about Noel Edmonds getting paid a lot for presenting Deal or No Deal and how he can think of 'nothing more tedious' as it doesn't take skill and it's sooo dragged out. (hear hear!)

Can't believe you were there Suzanne, how funny - well it's not funny but you know what I mean. (when I read that PM just got questioned as to why I said 'no way' so loudly lol!)

I'm finding it all hilarious.

The show was fantastic, the singing, the set and the wee red bus, which made me giggle - loved it dancing at the end, but thats just my humour! ::lol::
