KIDNAP GIRL, 6: NASTY MAN IN A HOOD LIFTED ME OUT OF THE BATH
THE little girl snatched from her bath by a pervert told police last night: "The nasty man came in and put his hand over my mouth and told me to be quiet."
She was speaking about her ordeal during which she was assaulted and dumped naked outside in the cold. The six-year-old added: "He had gloves on and a hood on. He lifted me out of the bath and put me in the car and drove me away.
"I was crying and shouting but he told me to shut up or he would hurt me. When he put me out of the car he told me to stand against a wall and said, 'Stop crying and screaming'.
"Then he drove away and the nice man came to help me."
Earlier, dad-of-two Geoff Brown spoke of the moment he found the distraught girl in an alley way.
The 43-year-old painter and decorator said: "She was a terrified little lass, frozen, naked and screaming for help in the dark. There was blood on her.
"When I picked her up she clung to me like a limpet. I felt so sorry for her."
As Geoff spoke, police warned that the attacker - who left the girl injured - could strike again.
Geoff, dad of a boy of 15 and girl of five, was watching TV with wife June, 37, when he heard the child's cries.
He found her in the alley, so cold she could not speak. He said: "I heard crying and screaming. It didn't sound right. It was unnerving.
"I rushed to put my slippers on, went out and found the poor little lass. I called police straight away."
The couple wrapped the youngster in their daughter's dressing gown to keep her warm. She told them: "A man took me out of the bath."
Later, she spent the night with her grandmother telling her about the "nasty man" who took her away and the "nice man" who found her.
She has now recovered so well she is telling her family: "Did you hear about the little girl who was taken away? That was me."
The child was snatched from her home in the Willington Quay area of North Tyneside, at 7-7.30pm on Tuesday. She was assaulted in the kidnapper's car and dumped in the next street 15 minutes later.
Her distraught mother, who also has an 18-month-old son, raised the alarm.
The girl's gran said: "She's been to hospital twice and interviewed by police. I need her to understand the bad man has gone away."
Det Chief Insp Jim Napier said: "This man is extremely dangerous and could strike again. He was brazen enough to enter the girl's house but was not known to her."
Registered sex offenders in the area have been questioned.
Police are hunting a middle-aged man wearing dark clothes and gloves.
They want to speak to any locals who saw a car being driven erratically.
