I am 400 pages into this book and while I'm enjoying it enough to keep going I have to say the amount of similes the author is using is driving me potty! Every other sentence has a simile in it like an annoying old aunt who repeats herself

I have to concentrate to keep up with all the twists and turns and going back and forth of it but I'm sticking with it and hoping it will make full sense at the end.

lol, I never noticed that while I was reading it!! But if you *do* notice something like that, it can be quite maddening. I hope you do come to enjoy it before the end, though.

*Betty Boop*..... now this is going to take me some time to get used to!!

finished it today and ended up really enjoying it. It certainly got much more exciting in the last 200 pages. I think the down side to it is I felt I had to really concentrate to keep up with the past and present combined with the French names which I don't remember as easily as if it were English names. As I said before the similies on every page got up my nose a bit and I can manage without the depth of description she uses but that aside it was a good book.

I finished this at the weekend too and I have to agree with Boopy ( :D )

I would say it was at least 200 pages too long if not more. I felt I was reading a French History book a lot of the time added to French vocabulary for dummies :-?
There was far too much description for my taste. I prefer detail when setting the scene so I can imagine the set in my minds eye after that I feel it's over kill. I felt more about the emotions and the actual plot would have been better.

Overall not one I would rave about. It's more I want to read it to get to the end and find out what happens rather than one that engrossed me within thr story.

On the whole...bit disappointing.
