Star is paid megabucks as TV chat show flops
By NICOLA METHVEN, TV Editor
DAVINA McCall was paid a massive £580 A MINUTE for her flop BBC1 chat show.
The Big Brother host pocketed a total of £280,000 – £35,000 a time – during the eight week series which limped off air on Wednesday with just 2.2 million viewers.
Ratings have been plummeting since its launch in February.
Beeb insiders say the show won’t be returning – after one source dubbed it “the worst value for money in telly history”.
Davina’s guests included fellow BBC stars Vernon Kaye and Tess Daly, Martin Shaw and Max Beesley.
She also interviewed former reality contestant Jade Goody, Irish comedian Ed Byrne and singers Lulu and Charlotte Church.
