ITV bosses have picked Liza Tarbuck to host Love Island — instead of Denise Van Outen.

Liza, 41, will replace last year’s flop host Kelly Brook.

Denise had been favourite to host the Fiji show, but is said to have been too busy.

An ITV1 source said the decision was “mutual”, adding: “Denise is in LA after signing up with a Hollywood agency and it looked like ten weeks in Fiji was too long for her.

“But we think Liza will be great as she’s very bright and funny and will work well with co-host Patrick Kielty.”

The Sun told how Liza, Denise and Daisy Donovan were in a race to host the show, which has dropped Celebrity from the title.

Liza was last seen as Mrs Jellyby in BBC1 Dickens drama Bleak House.

Her career began in cheesy 1990s sitcom Watching.

She had stints on Big Breakfast and appeared in dramas like Hound Of The Baskervilles.

Her biggest hit was romantic comedy drama Linda Green.

Den had been hotly tipped to take Kelly Brook's place alongside Patrick Kielty but is now reported to be too busy.

An ITV source told The Sun:

"Denise is in LA after signing up with a Hollywood agency and it looked like ten weeks in Fiji was too long for her."

So who will be sunning themselves in the co-host chair this time round?

It's ex-Big Breakfast host Liza Tarbuck.

The ITV chatterbox explained:

So no sulking about not seeing Den in a bikini, you hear?

Denise priced herself out? 10 weeks in fiji-gone.I think Liza will be fun and will enjoy ribbing Patrick.I guess this marginally increases the chances of KLL getting involved in some way.However it would clash with Ibiza.

The main piece in The Sun TV news page today is Kate Lawler may well be signing up for the
programme - The Sun citing the fact that Jonathan Woodgate staying in Spain is one of the main reasons.

BIG Brother winner Kate Lawler is set to sign up for Love Island — finally kicking her on-off footballer lover Jonathan Woodgate into touch.

Kate, 25, is likely to jet off to the ITV show’s Fiji set this summer — leaving Real Madrid star Jonathan, 26, to lick his wounds in Spain.

Her relationship with the injury-prone defender has been up in the air since he moved to Spain from Newcastle United.

They were rumoured to be getting back together last month when she flew out to Spain and had crunch talks at his luxury Madrid home.

But her decision to take part in the show for celebrity singletons is a clear sign the couple are finished — for good.

Insiders say Kate has been for auditions for the summer reality show and telly chiefs are keen to sign her up.

One said: “She looks fantastic in a bikini. She’ll be a real draw.

“She’s also funny, feisty and loves to party hard. She hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet but TV bosses are bending over backwards to persuade her and it looks like she’ll sign any day now.”

Kate was the first female Big Brother winner at the end of the third series in July 2002 — which also launched dimwit Jade Goody on to the world.

And she may bring something extra to Love Island — after threatening to have a boob job.

Kate recently confessed she was tempted to have the op to stop people calling her skinny.

And she is desperate to resurrect her TV career, which nosedived after her last show Celebrity Wresting was axed by ITV.

She has since reinvented herself as a DJ, playing gigs all over the world.

If she does end up on the show her fans will of course be delighted to see her on tv again and anyone who does not like her can stay tuned to BB7 and pick the loser again

Liza Tarbuck has been signed to host the show formerly known as Celebrity Love Island.

Tarbuck, 41, was chosen to replace last year's host, Kelly Brook.

Denise Van Outen had been tipped to take over from Brook, but she is reportedly too busy to spend ten weeks in Fiji filming the reality show.

Irish comedian Patrick Kielty will co-host the ITV1 show, this year to be known simply as Love Island.

I can't believe they've picked a her to present CLI, what about the eye candy presenter. Lisa Tarbuck isn't exactly sex on legs now is she??

I don't think it would be a bad move for Kate Lawler doing CLI as she's a sex symbol and will be a big personality, not in a celeb sense, more in sense of humour.

The only reason I can see for Kate not to do LI is the DJ bookings she'd be turning away-after all she might not be single next year.
