No smoke without fire
MegaStar says: ‘Punish the wannabes by banning the evil weed!’
In order to raise the tension factor that little bit more, the Daily Star informs us that this year’s Big Brother contestants will not be allowed to smoke in the famous house.
The poor things, how will they cope?
Of course, all the commotion about fagging is thanks to anti-smoking campaigners who claim that the show encourages youngsters to smoke the evil weed.
Apparently, this year’s celebrity contestants, such as Pete Burns, Preston, Michael Barrymore and George Galloway, were constantly shown with a fag in their mouths.
“We’ve called on Channel 4 and Endemol to consider imposing a full ban on cigarettes this year,” said a spokeswoman for ASH (Action on Smoking and Health).
The Aussie version of the show has already banned wannabes sparking up, and with Scotland banning smoking in pubs, clubs and restaurants this week - and with Britain supposedly following suit next year - the UK show is under pressure to stub it out for good.
But who could forget the comedy genius of Nadia, the winner of the 2004 show, who simply couldn’t function without nicotine and threatened to walk from the house?
Or this year, when Dead or Alive singer Pete Burns looked like he might decapitate Chantelle if his steak lips weren’t wrapped around a fag.
Either way, if they use nicotine as a reward or a punishment this year, it’s bound to set off the primed-for-fame losers for our viewing pleasure.
