A London cabbie was mistaken for an IT expert he was set to pick up at the BBC and ended up appearing live on TV.

The taxi driver was holding a badge for Guy Kewney in reception when the confusion took place.

A producer called out for "Guy Kewney" and the cabbie was ushered on to a News 24 studio set.

Instead of telling show bosses he was not Mr Kewney, he tried to bluff his way through the interview about the court battle between Apple iTunes and Apple Corps.

During the interview his answers included: "I'm very surprised to see this verdict... because I was not expecting that."

The real Mr Kewney, editor of newswireless.net, watched the interview in disbelief.

After several confused answers interviewer Karen Bowerman cut to a reporter at the High Court reports the Mirror.

I want Guy to have his own web TV show.
He can blag his way through subjects selected by the viewers.

"so...guy..are you surprised by the latest inflation figures?"

"well, yes...this is most worrisome news..for all those concerned about such things.

Its a winning concept.

A man interviewed on camera after the BBC mistook him for an IT expert says he feels like a celebrity.

Guy Goma was earlier thought to be a taxi driver but is actually an accountant who was at the BBC for a job interview, reports the Sun.

BBC News 24 mixed him up with IT journalist Guy Kewney and interviewed him about the court battle between Apple iTunes and Apple Corps.

Mr Coma, who gamely bluffed his way through the interview, has since been asked for interviews by news organisations worldwide.

He said: “I feel like Prince Harry. Everyone wants to speak to me. I never imagined anything like this would ever happen.”

But he added: “I never really wanted to be famous. I just want to be an accountant - I hope I get the job at the BBC."

'Wrong guy' loses shirt for Oxfam

Quote:
The man who mistakenly appeared as an IT expert on BBC News 24 is auctioning the blue shirt he was wearing on the day he became famous for charity.
Guy Goma was at the BBC for a job interview but a mix-up meant he was taken to a studio and asked on-air about the Apple vs Apple court case.

He was not offered the role as a data support cleanser but his TV appearance gained him worldwide attention.

He said equally "amazing things" could happen to the next owner of the shirt.

"This is the shirt I wore which nearly got me a job on the BBC," he wrote on the 15 Minutes auction website, where it is being sold.

"I didn't get the job but I did become an overnight celebrity. I'm auctioning this shirt off so that someone else can be as lucky as I was.

"PS: The shirt has been worn a couple of times (to interviews)," he added.

The proceeds from the auction will be donated to Oxfam.
