News for anyone trying to use the red button on Telewest cable.

Those dear little souls at Telewest Towers have done it yet again - every year they 'forget' to negotiate with C4 for the rights to have the red button feed - which they have to pay for.

So, there isn't a red button on Telewest as yet - but I'm told, by their network bods, that this is being sorted out and we may get it by early October... Or something like that.

I've disconnected my cable box and put a cheap Freeview one in it's place while BB is on! At least the red button works on that, and it's not costing me any more!

Take note Telewest - start talking to C4 BEFORE BB starts in future!

Damn, I've got Freeview and cannot get the red button to work.

It worked last year. Don't know why it isn't working this year. Doesn't matter as I don't watch much of the live stuff anyway, even when it's on Ch.4 and there's f-all else on. But I still like something to work if it should. Speaking of which is that workshy twit Ya'bas' still there?

(It's built into the TV, a Sony, don't ask me what model, it's named like a stupid chuffing Star Wars droid, as all electrical goods seem to be. Why can't they just call models 'Dave' or 'Lucy' or something? Why do they have to pander to techies who get a hard-on for acronymns and serial/model numbers?)

There was no red button on E4 on SKY either when I last checked, I thought they were bringing it back?

On Freeview boxes you may need to re-scan the channels to get the red button to work. It is working fine on mine, and I'm in South Yorkshire.
Can't comment much on Sky apart from my step-daughter was watching it last night at a friend house and she was sure red button was showing, although they were watching E4 'live' anyway, so didn't need it.

That'll be it. I noticed they've discontinued More4+1 and will be replacing it with a free version of FilmFour, on 31st July (?).

Which is nice. Gives another alternative to the Shabaz Show.

Bad enough that More4 was repeats of E4's repeats of C4 stuff - without giving it a +1 as well!

FilmFour free? Re-runs of the stuff they had the previous month I'll bet, they'll never make it 100% free.

And with DVDs being so cheap now, if you really love a film or show, you just buy it.
