Ramsay rocked by injury!
The Rest of the World team captain suffers a painful twist of fate after tearing the muscle in his right leg.
As a keen sportsman and fitness fanatic, razor sharp Ramsay is always on the go, rarely letting the strain of a measly marathon interrupt his plans for a sprightly sprinting session days later.
But during Soccer Aid training for his big match against Robbie Williams’ England side this Saturday, the iron man was brought down to earth with a thud, quite literally.
"We were training and I went into a tackle with Brian McFadden and won the ball,” Gordon explains.
“Seconds later I passed to Zola and as I hit the ball my right leg twisted and I fell downstraight away.
“I was in the most incredible pain.”
And that’s saying something, for it’s not often that we see the thick-skinned culinary king showing even so much as a wince (when he’s not tasting dodgy dishes, that is!)
So you can imagine his team mates’ concern when their skipper hit the deck!
"I was carried off and the Soccer Aid physios worked on me immediately, but I had to go to hospital for a scan which has revealed a muscle tear,” he says.
So what’s the score now?
Has the future of the foreign side’s fearless figurehead been plunged into disarray and doubt before the action even hits our screens?
“I'll be having intensive physio all week but I have an amazing recovery rate,” he assures us.
“I was running again just a few days after this year's marathon.” Crikey!
Yes, you can expect Mr Ramsay to be out there in force if his plans to pitch up go ahead.
"I will absolutely not give up and am determined to lead the Rest of the World out at Old Trafford on Saturday,” he declares.
“If I wasn't to play in this massive game against England I'd never forgive myself.
“It means so much to me."
