THE bird which had its 15 minutes of fame on Big Brother earlier this week has returned to the grind of everyday life.

After infiltrating the Dreamworld compound on Monday and providing the BB housemates with some much-needed variety, the bird was caught by cat handler Claire and placed in a cage, which was later taken away by the RSPCA.

Since its removal, more than 50 people have laid claim to the bird, forcing the RSPCA to ask each person for photo ID of "their" pet.

After scrutinising the mugshots, the rightful owner was identified as a Nerang man who lives down the road from the BB house.

'Insider' ousted
From Sydney Confidential
29may06

SYDNEY political science student Michael has become the fifth housemate evicted from the Big Brother house.

Michael, 25, outpolled John and Camilla, with 25 per cent of the merged public eviction vote.
He was voted the Insider by a live audience, agreeing to take on a series of secret tasks set by Big Brother.

He failed the first - discovering the true relationship between two of the housemates, mother and daughter Krystal and Karen.

Successfully sabotaging the clown task earned Michael a series of culinary rewards, including a 10-minute chance to devour an entire packet of Tim Tams, while his housemates were confined to a staple diet.

Most controversially, however, was his response to the third task: getting eight housemates to nominate him for eviction in order to gain immunity.

Michael concocted a fictitious son on the outside, Reuben, whom, he told housemates, he risked losing in an impending paternity suit if he was unable to leave the Gold Coast compound.

He aced the task, earning nine nominations, and incurring the wrath of much of the house when Big Brother revealed his Insider lies.

Despite being granted a reprieve, Michael took it upon himself to continue the role of antagonist, stealing and hiding everyone's toothbrushes.

"I wanted to mix things up," he told host Gretel Killeen on last night's live eviction.

"You do things in this game that you wouldn't do in everyday life," he said.

"I would do whatever it takes."

In a special one-hour "twist" show prior to the eviction, Michael was revealed as one of the biggest liars in the house.

Big Brother asked housemates a series of questions about other people in the house, whether they had or would lie, and whether they were playing the game, whilst running a voice-based lie detector over their answers.

Of 438 questions asked, 126 returned false readings.

As a result an additional person will now be added to this week's list of nominees.

The public will decide, from a selection of housemates prepared by Big Brother, who is going "under the radar", or keeping a low profile to escape nomination.

The "under the radar" votes open tomorrow night.

Michael's little bratty outburst
DailyTelegraph
May 30, 2006

BIG Brother contestant Michael has lashed out at host Gretel Killeen for attacking" him on national television when he was "tired, hungry and a bit sad about being evicted".

Michael, who was being labelled yesterday the most disliked Big Brother contestant since the show began six years ago, said Killeen was frustrated because "she likes to be in control and I was challenging that."

The tension between Killeen and Michael, a self-confessed bully in the house, was most obvious when Killeen snapped at him after he mimicked her reading her autocue.

"She's a comedian, she shouldn't take things so seriously but she got angry," Michael said.

The Sydney University student said he was unconcerned about being seen as arrogant.

"This was the wrong game for me, I should have been playing Survivor and I would have won," he said.
