My children pester me when I am cooking - 'can I do this? can I grate the cheese? can I stir the sauce?' etc etc Maybe it is just my family but cooking is a big part of our family life and always has been..

He should learn the basics anyway before he goes of to uni, otherwise he will live on cereal and kebabs.

I taught myself to cook courtesy of Delia Smith's Complete Cookery course, which I think does include instructions on how to boil an egg.
