Seems Andriy Shevchenko is on his way as well with William Gallas going the other way.

A little message to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United:

Not gonna be your season next season, maybe the one after eh?

Ballack and Shevchenko, both 30 this September (within 3 days).

Seems there will be more Chelsea Pensioners on the pitch than watching from the stands. Chelsea All Stars? Chelsea Old Stars!

It'll be a four-horse (even without Ruud) race next season.

Can't see it, too many stars spoil the broth.
Plus Mourinho's not used to signing GOOD players, he won't be able to handle them!!

Disagree. It's all about starting well.

Liverpool, Man United, and Arsenal all had bad starts last season. Chelsea got off to a flyer. That's what won them the league. Their season January-onwards was mixed.

They are good. But they aren't great.

What they do excel at is consistency. If teams can match that, they stand as good as chance as Chelsea of winning the title.

It's what won Arsenal and Manchester United all those titles. Play well, win. Play poorly, win.

The transfer signings and player offloads before and after the World Cup are going to be very interesting. None of the traditional big three have much to spend (compared to the Russian crook), but all three have very savvy managers, and one in particular, Wenger, is very astute in the transfer market.

However, I don't think any of them will be casting a glance over the farm hands at Kilmarnock, Hipps. ;)

No.They are going to field an 'a' and 'b' team.IMO its bad news for the game.Top notch players will be sitting on the bench week after week(and I know Chelsea aren't the only side guilty),but in essence will be one team for domestic competition, another for Europe

The parallels are astonishing.

All he needs to do is sign for a big club that will never play him, have no experience of top flight or international football and he'll be a dead cert for Euro 2008.
