Jamie revealed he hadn't heard of Kate being on Big Brother as he wasn't in in the UK at the time.

"She seems a really cool girl, and has a great attitude towards going out, just our sort of person - up for a party and up for a laugh, but not up her own a**e!"

Kate's really tearing up the scene - & good luck to her.

Kate may have got one foot in the door because of BB, but she's trained hard, & is proving herself to the cynics. :D

Kate did a short promotional interview for the Ibiza gig. Some interesting musical tips and some good update on her plans.

How would you describe your musical style?
I really enjoy playing funky electro, and anything that's driving and dirty with vocals too sometimes. I can be known to play a bit of progressive and acid house too! I hate there being so many bloody genres of house music though, I can never answer this question!

What DJ's/Producers have influenced you or your style?
When I was younger I mostly listened to indie, rock/hiphop and judge jules on a saturday night! I wouldn't say I've been influenced by any particular dj as such. However, from building my music collection, I really love Mark Knight, Martjin Ten Velden, Cirez D, and the Ninja Cowboys production wise. Oh and
Sasha/Digweed/Fancuilli - dj heroes.

Who should we be looking out for in the future?
Ninja Cowboys, (producing better tracks each month and always rock Fervor nights) LoveFish (young guns lovechild and discofish who's sets just get better and better every time I hear them) and I really like Filthy Rich too (mixmag future hero)

What was the last album you bought?
I bought these the other week all at the same time! Wolfmother, Arctic Monkeys and the Miami 2006 Album from this years WMC....

What's your fave gig of the year so far?
Tokyo Japan at Club Air was pretty fcukin wicked! The japanese loved electro so I just kept playing more twisted bangin stuff and the club, sound system and people made the night totally unforgettable. I was also really pleased with my very first gig at the Whitehouse in Clapham for "Sundazed". I was really really nervous but the crowd responded so well to my set, as did Mono Bar in Southampton when I warmed up for the legend that is James Zebelia...

What have you got coming up between now and the end of the year?
I'm off to ibiza to dj for Fervor and Filthy/Gorgeous and I can't wait!!! Its
also a weeks holiday so I'll be checking out all the clubs for The Sun Onlines Ibiza guide too. I'm also modelling the new summer range for Ann Summers underwear, writing a weekly column for The Sun Online for this years Big Brother, running the Sport Relief mile for comic relief in July, DJing again over in Tokyo at Club Air in august, as well as honey club and Mass in brixton in July. My new monthly podcast will soon be available to download on i-tunes too, check out my website http://www.katelawler.net for more info. And I really want to go on a course for music making as I've so many ideas floating about in my little head, it'd be handy if I knew how programmes like Logic etc.. worked!

You've got a bit of a reputation of being a party girl... What's the longest
you've ever partied for? Where & when was it??

Its all lies. I'm a good girl really. Although in January this year, I went to
space & fervor at The Cross saturday evening, then onto 54 for Zombies ate my Brain, followed by all afternoon at The Chapel Bar islington. I got home at midnight sunday. And I hope to break this record this year in ibiza!!! :-)

What's the Filthiest thing you've ever seen?
A couple of months ago someone bluetoothed me a video clip when I was in a packed pub watching Arsenal play Juventus in the champions league. It involved 4 girls and rudeness. The video soon got filthy and I had to stop watching with my mate. Shame on whoever sent that to me!!!!!

What's the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen?
Jamie Dornan on the front cover of this months Attitude Magazine. Wow. I am in love.

Were you 'Country House' or 'Roll With It' ?
Roll With It all the way baby. Oasis still remail my favourite band ever and I prefer Damons newer band 'The Gorillaz'

What’s your favourite animal?
West Highland Terrier Doggies. I have one, and I love the way they are so friendly and in my eyes, they are so human-like....

Kate has said on her website that any comments on 'myspace' previously seen are by an imposter.
She is thinking about setting up her own MYSPACE page.

ie, discount any comments about Love Island seen in The Daily Star Sunday 03/09/2006.

Short interview with Kate on her current tastes ahead of Birmingham.

Hi Kate, thanks for finding the time to talk to us, so when did you first start DJ-ing?
Hey, well, in 2000 my school friend had decks in his bedroom, and I loved going round to play with his music. He gave me a few lessons and I told him I wanted to be a DJ but after only a few weeks practice it wasn’t meant to be when I moved to Tokyo, but finally I bought my decks in May 2005 and my first gig was December 2nd 2005.

Where have you been playing recently?
The Whitehouse, Clapham. Formula City at Tabernacle in London and in November I look forward to playing at Sankeys in Manchester and The Glasshouse in Leeds.

And Tiramizu of course! So what has been your favourite gig so far?
Playing in the Coco Loco Room for Filthy/Gorgeous at Privelage in Ibiza was a big moment for me, however, I've had some really memorable gigs this year, its hard to pick a favourite. My gig at the Honey Club Brighton in July was a great night, probably my favourite.

Sounds great! How was it playing out in Ibiza and will you be back there next year?
Ibiza was amazing as it is every year. I would loved to have played more gigs. I really enjoyed DJ-ing in the sunshine for Fervor and Filthy/Gorgeous and if i get gigs in Ibiza next year I will be a very happy bunny!

What do you think of the UK dance scene at the moment?
As always house music is evolving and peoples tastes in music keep changing. There is a lot of great music out there. I think we have some great new up and coming producers too who are making really cool tracks from funky to the dirty minimal stuff. I thought i was getting a little bit bored of electro but then last week I heard about 4 wicked new tracks, one from Chris Lake so I definitely know that Im not bored of it.

A small number of people are against the fact that you have now turned to DJ-ing... What would you say to them?
Firstly it confuses me as to how people can be angry because Im working. If I was sitting on my arse all day sponging off the government then fair enough!! DJ-ing is something i've always dreamt of doing. Before Big Brother I never thought it would ever happen but I have been lucky enough to have the chance to fulfill my dream. I love music, its my passion. One person even slagged me off and hadn't even heard me play! I don't think its fair people judging how good I am if they have not even seen me play a set. I'd never do that to another DJ I'd not heard. I don't care if people are against the fact I'm DJ-ing, as long as my friends and family still love me thats all that matters to me.

When you’re not DJ-ing, what else do you normally get up to?
Im currently the face of Ann Summers so have been modeling their recent Christmas selection of underwear. I try to go to the gym and recently have been rehearsing for a new dating show that I am presenting, which is currently on ITV2 really late at night so haven't been very good with the gym! I also do charity work for Breast Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis.

You're a busy bee then! So when you get time to yourself what sort of music do you listen to at home?
Anything and everything, some of my favourite albums are by Michael Jackson, Morrissey, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Radiohead, Chicane, Mattafix and I tend to listen to a lot of the mixes I make myself so I can see whether my mixing is **** or shit-hot!

Any plans to go in to the studio and produce some of your own stuff?
DJ-ing is something I've always wanted to do, producing wasn't. However, recently Ive been taking advice from a lot of fellow DJ's and am really keen to make my own tunes, one step at a time though, maybe next year.

Who is your biggest influence on the club scene at the moment?
I am a big fan of Mark Knight and Martjin Ten Velden, I really like the stuff they produce. I think Chris Lake is wicked too. I'd say I'm a little influenced by D.Ramirez, Kurd Maverick, Plump DJ's and the Ninja Cowboys too.

If you could only play one more club ever, what club would it be and what other DJs would be playing?
It would be Space in Ibiza and after going there for We Love Closing in September I'd want Danny Tenaglia, Mark Knight & Martjin Ten Velden and probably Mistress Da Funk cos she's a mate of mine and a f%@king nutcase behind the decks and she plays dirty rotten filthy tunes. I love watching DJ's who look like they are having a good time!!

Sounds like a wicked night! What does the future now hold for Kate Lawler?
I don't like looking too far in to the future! We're here for a good time, not a long time and I hope the future is lots of fun. I will continue to practice my djing and hopefully get better and better with time. I hope one day to produce my own tracks and also to carry on working for my charities and doing my tv stuff which I really enjoy.

Well thanks for talking to us Kate, we look forward to seeing you in Birmingham on 27th at Tiramizu!

Another interview:

Get Hot & Spicy with Kate Lawler!!

Now, Kate Lawler is by no means new to the scene, with her name becoming ever present on plenty of London top lineup's, she's coming into her own and currently tearing up dance floors home and away. I caught up with rising star, and talked 'DJ'...

Welcome Kate Lawler...

So then what was your motivation to start DJ'ing?

Just always loving house music, clubbing and wanting to get behind the decks and learn something cool.

What would you prefer to do as a career; working in TV or working in music?

Can't decide. Both are brilliant. I DJ for the love of music and for fun, not for money. I reckon I'll still be djing when I'm an OAP! But tv is great fun and pays the mortgage too. I enjoy being able to do both!

How does your day job compliment your night job?
Quite well. I do some modelling for ann summers lingerie and present itv2's playdate which is actually on late at night so I'm a bit of a night owl at the moment!

Do you think your appearances on Reality TV shows have an effect on your credibility as a DJ?

Unfortunately yes but it hasn't stopped me doing what I want to do. I just have to work harder to get myself known for being a DJ now and its nice when I can suprise people who think I'm going to press stop start and play hiphop house!

You were out in Ibiza over the summer, working or playing hard?

Both actually. DJing was fun over there but nothing beats the partying and listening to some of the best dj's in the world in ibiza. Its a shame the island is full of thieving bastards however.

Who was your favourite DJ when you were growing up?

I was actually well into my harder house and used to listen to judge jules a lot on the radio. Was a big fan of Todd Terry too.

What's your favourite track at the moment?

I love Trentmollers (one of my fave producers at the moment) remix of robbie williams rudebox and also chris lakes new tune Watching you

If you could change your DJ name, what would u choose?

Dirty little minx? I don't know something a bit naughty.

With the mainstream popularity of digital music and the increase of quality DJ equipment, do you see vinyl/vinyl DJs becoming a rare breed in years to come?

Yes although I can't imagine clubs ever getting to the stage of only letting DJ's play with laptops it just wouldn't feel right! Pioneer CDJ's are becoming more industry standard in clubs than technics now but its so much easier for travelling and music selection.

Do you have a favourite DJ story?

Not yet! I'm not very rock n roll actually although I do like to party. Ask me again in 3 years and maybe I'll tell you something then.

For those not yet familiar with your DJ'ing, how would you describe your style?
I love house music, all kinds of house depending on what mood I'm in. What I play is generally dirty house, sometimes vocal, sometimes more melodic. I like stuff with driving base lines and break downs with build ups.

What do you think has been central to your success so far?

Not sure, I taught myself to DJ and am keen to start learning all the tricks with the cdj decks. Before I started playing out I made sure I could mix as I know people would be listening with extra ears to see how I did so I guess practicing and practicing was vital before I actually got the bollox to do my first gig.

When do you think you'll make the step from DJ'ing to producing?

Next year some time, its something I really want to do and have already got a few ideas on paper for the sort of tunes I'd like to make. I think it would be great for my dj career to produce something good.

Any plans to DJ, Christmas and New Year?

I'm playing cardiff and swansea on the 23rd of December. Christmas day and boxing day I always spend with my family and New years eve I'm playing in edinburgh and glasgow I can't wait!

What does 2007 have in store for you musically?

All I know at the moment Is that I'm playing in dubai in january and dubai is one of my fave places so very excited about that. Also my friend who runs the successful Fervor parties at the chapel bar, london is going to be doing a new thursday night in the city of london next year so look out for that.

And Finally...

How Hot & Spicy are you?

I'd say I'm like a Biryarni. Hot and Spicy, but you'll regret me in the morning. (You aint seen me without make up!)

Kate will be headlining alongside Andy Norman and Legendary Huckleberry Finn, not forgetting all your Hot & Spicy favourites-Hidden 4th November. Get yourself gone....

Kate has finally set up a myspace page this week and live.It is at http://myspace.com/djkatelawler and she seems to be using it to promote her music career.

Her page is interesting as she is looking to create some track music herself because of all the interest. Her statement looks informative.

""Kate began djing in 2005 and has rapidly become one of the most talked about females on the club scene. Her love for house music began 10 years ago, and was cemented when she decided to buy herself some decks and learn to mix.

Influenced by music from a very young age, Kate has played almost every style of house music from Soulful through to Funky Electro. What really drives Kate now though is Dark, Dirty house and Filthy Tech beats. Her sets are always energetic, driving and as most people know, she never fails to join in the party before and after! Kate played at Itaca, Privelage and Es Vive in Ibiza 2006, as well as Club Air, Tokyo, Pacha London and Sankeys Manchester.

Well aware that her profile has caused her choice of career to be a major talking point around the country Kate will only ever see this as positive criticism adding... "I have so much support from those who I care about and DJing is something I always dreamt of doing when I was a teenager. I love music. I was brought up by my parents listening to music 24/7. I am never happier than when listening to it, dancing to it, playing it, making it and evening kissing to it!"

With so many people speculating what style she plays, and what her sets are like, Kate has decided to take a step (perhaps an early one!) in to music production. "I want to put a track out so everyone can hear my style as a DJ. I didn't intend on getting in to the studio so quickly after learning to DJ but I'm working with a great producer and cant wait to get my sound out there". ""

Thanks Vilt, I checked the other day but the site wasn't quite ready!

Haven't done the clubbing thing in a few years but always checked a number of sites to see whats happening.

And the good thing, apart from the 'odd' nervous moron who will appear, you'll find that the dance community think Kate's cooler than Christmas. :D
