you need a change of signature love! Given we've already qualified, I'd suggest changing it to "Come on Sweden" will be a wasted opportunity. It's probably best to put "Come on Germany" but you lot are used to siding with the Germans! ::lol::

I'm so sorry.Of course as a humble colonialist,I should be greatful for the education your fine Kingdom gave to the country saving us from years of ignorance, savagery and lack of breeding and manners. If it were not for you,we would indeed be speaking German..but most importantly we would never have learned the glorious game.God forbid should we ever beat you at the game,or worse qualify for the world cup and leave you lot behind...(though that probably was before your time)

Apparently the Sun's headline tomorrow is "Late Balls of Fire"!!

Flippin England....they play really dull football, keep us biting our nails until the last few minutes, then pull it off.

John Terry's deflection was a masterpiece though (and I know nothing about football)

It's always better that nails be bitten down before any pulling off occurs. ;)

The Scum headline is pretty poor though. Even for them.

Oh, and that would be John Terry's goal line 'clearance', not deflection.

You bloody GIRL! ;) :D

Must admit, the Argies look outstanding this time around and are going to take some beating. Been impressed with Holland as well.

Well, a clearance is when a player on the defending team clears the ball from a dangerous position (when the attacking team is close to/looks like scoring). Usually a clearance will be inside the 18-yard box, and thus a goal-line clearance, such as Terry's, was a clearance made right on the goal line.

A deflection is when a shot or a pass hits off another player (either on your own team or the opposition's) before it reaches it's intended target (that target being either a teammate or the goal area). A deflection can go anywhere (into the net, into clear space or out of play) and still be a considered a deflection.

Finally, a team that stands a chance of winning the World Cup needs to have great players, a clever manager and the ability to gel as a team. As such, this disqualifies England on all three counts. ;)
