The qualification process should be changed - how on earth CONCACAF manage to get Mexico, USA, Costa Rica and T&T at the World Cup is beyond a joke (did anyone see that Panorama documentary which highlighted the FIFA presidents shady dealings with CONCACAF in return for votes?). Currently 4th in CONCACAF plays an Asian team.

The 3rd team in the final CONCACAF group should play 5th best from South America in a play-off to determine ONE team from that region. Therefore one extra place is freed up.

South American teams should be split into 2 groups of 5 instead of one massive group of 10, with 3rd best in each group playing-off (to determine who plays 3rd from CONCACAF). Currently 5th in South America plays the Oceania winner.

The winner of Oceania should play the '5th' best Asian team in a play-off.

The place remaining as a result of the above should go to another European team - Europe have lost places in recent tournaments but with political changes there are even more teams (and better teams) around than ever before, so the original weighting in favour of Europe should be restored.

Scotland should be given a 10 point lead just to give them a glimmer of hope of qualification in a group containing Luxembourg, Andorra, Estonia (if they turn up), the Isle of Man and Canvey Island.
