BT has clinched a six-figure deal with Channel 4 to sponsor Celebrity Big Brother. BT Broadband will supply 24-hour coverage of the housemates and has developed special desktop software that will update office workers with the latest scenes from the house whenever something of particular interest occurs. Recent research showed fans of Big Brother 3 spent three-and-half hours a week on average watching the action on computers at home and work.

What amazes me is how anyone who watched 3.5 hours per week be called a fan..?

For instance...

We were away in Menorca for the last two weeks of BB3 but used our time away well. I spent hours and hours in a cybercafe watching BB, visiting BBFans and keeping up to date with the gossip. At nights we were in the bigscreen pubs watching the C4 BB shows. We phoned home so a friend could do our vote for us. When we got home we had mountains of C4 and E4 videos to get through (thanks to the same friend, who didn't understand but taped the lot for us) but we watched and enjoyed every minute... even the chicken coop! Then came the post BB cold turkey waiting for the BB3 DVD and watching BB1 and BB2 just to get through the days. And now we are getting into Celeb BB mood..!

That must be a step closer to fandom than 3.5 hours per week!
