As for Zidane, God only knows what he was thinking when he nutted Materazzi. Couldn't believe what I'd seen.

Really pleased Italy won too, I was rooting for France all match...but that immediately went away after Zidane's incident. An unbelievable thing to do under any circumstances let alone the last 10 mins of your career in a WC final God knows what triggered that..

I was the same, wanted France to win until the Zidane headbutt.

Why he reacted the way he did I have no idea but if that was not on a football pitch he would have been arrested for it.

Two teams I didn't want in the final (but Argentina and Brazil were both pish in the quarters). But at least France attacked and tried to win.

Italy winning is a bad result for football. A victory for the vile catenaccio style of football. Old-school Italian defensive drudgery has won the day.

well having seen every world cup since 74, my opinion is that this was the poorest one i've seen. the quality of the the teams was way down on previous years and the excitement just wasn't there

the only good thing about it was, that englands over hyped, over payed "superstars" were one of the worst teams in the competition. if they couldn't win this mediocre world cup they're unlikely to win any (unless the host it and rig the tournament again). its unlikely the big countries will All be so poor in four years time
