Chad,

I'm ashamed to say that despite my dreams of being a domestic goddess, I cannot recommend a recipe for pasta salads. That really is a disgrace, because flipping heck, salads are something that even I should be able to manage.

I only ever seem to do celery and apple, cucumber and tomato, and potato salads. I even use 'shop-bought' coleslaw.

However, perhaps there's something IN HERE, or IN THIS LOT which may be of some use.

Well, Thank you gg in replying and admiting that, I'm not too bad at cooking but never make pasta salads I've really a clue and like you say there must be easy enough!

Maybe any other guys out there would like to add something?

here's one a la Jamie Oliver......

11oz small pasta shapes, 3 cloves of garlic, 9oz yellow cherry tomatoes, 9oz red cherry tomatoes, 2 tbsp fresh chives, handful fresh basil, handful black olives (I would miss these out myself), 1/2 a cucumber, 4tbsp white wine vinegar, 7 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, salt and black pepper

- boil pasta and garlic until al dente
- drain and run pasta under cold water to cool and put in bowl, put garlic to one side to use in dressing
- chop tomatoes, cuc, chives, basil, olives into pieces about half the size of the pasta and mix together with pasta
- squash the garlic cloves out of their skin and mush in a pestle and mortar, adding vinegar, oil and seasoning to taste
- drizzle over salad

yum yum - hope it works for you if you decide to try it :D

If you want a really basic pasta salad that people always like - *including children *

pasta (cooked then cooled under cold water)
tin of tuna
tin of sweetcorn
tin of garden peas
spring onions
salt
mayonnaise

Mix the above together in quantities you like - serve in a large bowl

I have done this for my kids so many times as they love it, and it always goes down well at buffets, despite being super easy to make. :D

Sorry for asking this in your thread Chad but you see in that recipe Milly... is it possible to substitute the tuna for something else?

Cooked chicken, maybe?

(Oh, I see Milly says that's o.k.!)

I'm loving this thread... I feel like Glyn, on a voyage of discovery. ::lol::

lol, you must both have posted at the same time.

Cheers, I will maybe try that - trying to increase the number of things I can make.

Aww thanks guys, loving your comment gg Glyn style! Just like to add I'm no way near as bad as Glyn but never make pasta salads.

I think I will try your's Felicity that sounds really nice and I'm going food shopping soon so will be able to buy all the ingredients!

No problem Jezi, if anyone has any other recipes that would be good too!

Not pasta salads, but for BBQs I tend to make either a nicoise salad or a caesar salad - both are very nice. :D

:) :) :) :) Felicity, your Jamie Oliver pasta salad went down really well, better than I expected! I can add that to a my list foods that go down well! There was hardly anything left and I used the amounts on the recipe so I'm well pleased with it! Thanks again!!! ()^

And the scandal of it all is...I have that Jamie Oliver book!

Now that Chad has given the recipe the ()^ , I'm determined to make it next time I'm 'entertaining' ::lol:: ...although we can't get yellow cherry tomatoes here, much...so I'll have to improvise....maybe yellow jelly babies would do the trick.

Now, do I need a 'weigh-ers'...is that what it's called?

::lol::
