Ah well, the closest you peasants ever get to water sports is fishing in the murky depths of the Rochdale canal.

What a fantastic game that was tonight, young James Wade beating Roland Scholten (eventually) The standard was unbelievable throughout and Wade's comeback was awesome.

Looks like it's gonna be a Wade - Taylor final as Taylor is beating Andy Hamilton (who hasn't averaged below 100 yet).

In an earlier post, I suggested that Phil "The Power" Taylor was one of the greatest sportsmen the world has ever seen.

I was wrong.

Not only is he one of the greatest sportsmen, he is one of the greatest human beings this planet has produced.

When you talk about Taylor, you have to include him with the likes of Elvis, Churchill, Mandela, Ghandi, Newton, Cantona, Van Gogh, Mozart, Napoleon, Pele, Columbus, Einstein.

We are lucky to be alive at the same time as Taylor.

He purposely rejected one because he simply couldn't fit it in his house for all the trophies. Ooooooh, whats that, another one tonight. He's not bad is our Phil.

who wants a knighthood anyway? You can stick your royalist honours where the Raymond Barneveld doesn't shine

Compare training regimes, Taylor probably popped to the pub every day for a few years and threw some darts for a few hours.
To perform at SSR's level from 1984-2000 takes the kind of dedication Taylor can only ever dream of.
I am not denying he is the greatest player his (sport?) has ever seen but I find it impossible to put him anywhere near Redgrave in terms of British sport legends.

Training for 10 hours every single day of the year including Xmas Day etc is some dedication I would say.

Taylor is the best British sportsman I've ever seen.

I will have to agree with Mozzer on this one.I can testify after yesterday that spending ten hours in a pub is indeed a strenuous business and should not be undertaken without having undertaken a rigorous training schedule before hand.My lack of training was sadly reflected by my p!sspoor showing in the darts.
That said I do admire a man who dedicates hours to perfecting his stroke rate as opposed to his 3 times table

Phil "The Greatest Sportsman Ever" Taylor:

13 time World Champion
5 time World Grand Prix Darts Champion
8 time World Matchplay Champion
3 time Las Vegas Desert Classic Champion
1 time Uk Open Champion

Total - 30

All Since 1994

Steve Redgrave:

20 Gold Medals in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World Cup and World Championships.

All since 1984

Taylor wins that for me.

and let's not forget Redgrave only won with the help of others. Don't recall him winning any individual events. He might be a member of a great team but he's effectively nothing more than a Gary Neville rather than a Wayne Rooney

Oh come on.Everyone knows that Taylor would not be able to achieve this feat without the aid of the latest Iraqi technology.Namely the mini laser guided missile with a range of 7 and a half feet

Would that be the same Wayne Rooney who scored ZERO goals for England in the World Cup Quals and ZERO goals in the World Cup itself?
The boy has alot of work to do at the highest level to fulfil the hype!!

I know you weren't bigging him up exactly, just thought I'd have a rant.
