Yes I think her own safety had to be a reason for keeping her, but while in prison she admitted to 2 more murders, which she hadn't been tried for.

So if she had been released, she would have been re-tried and given another sentence.

Best she just stayed where she was and didn't waste anymore tax payers money with another court case.

It all comes down to whether you believe in punishment or rehabilitation. The idea that Myra was a threat to anyone in the last few years of her life is laughable.

She was effectively a political prisioner. She served her original recomended sentance of 25 years and was only kept locked up because no home secretary had the guts to set her free.

she killed kids and she looks like a man - take her out the back and shoot her.

So although she wouldn't have hurt anyone else it was okay to the families of the children who died that she could roam free? IMHO ALL child killers (or people who help child killers) should remain locked away for life.



I think it took more guts to keep her in there! Life should mean life. Why should any killer get any life back after taking another, especially killers of children, or people who quite willingly (and allegedly enjoy) help killers of children.

Both M.H. and I.B. knew what to expect if they were caught for the horrific murders of innocent children.

Nothing is that simple. It's generally acknowledged that prison is not an effective deterrent. If someone is capable of something as horrendous as the crimes MH+IB committed, they would not stop to think "Oh, I might go to prison for this".

Hindley is thought to have been somewhat under the influence of Brady. Whether it was fear or just plain blind love, it impaired her decision making. Long term consequences would not have been in her thoughts.

Again, it all comes down to whether society should lower itself to the position of criminals and punish, or whether we should strive to rehabilitate.

we'd be falling to the same level as criminals if we gave her the death penalty. i think punishment is better than rehabilitation. rehab doesnt work. i would know. i think we should bring back the death penalty. nothing like a public hanging in the square, sunday afternoon.
