Why, thank you both very much. In addition to what I said up there, the written word can also bestow a warm feeling of chuffedness when people think the same as you do!

I actually disagree with much of the sentiment expressed in here (not in a having a go way). I know mistakes happen from time to time, but there is a very large number of irresponsible parents out there (not claiming to be any sort of parenting saint myself let it be said), and laws are required to ensure that parents act the way that a decent parent should do. Take the recent story of the child killed by the two dogs. There was no doubting this was a horrific accident, but when there's kids involved, you cannot under any circumstances take the sort of chances that you might take if it was yourself at risk. Being a good parent for 99% of the time isn't good enough, if the 1% leads to any sort of harm for a child.

That said, I agree that the pic of Linley is a touch misleading. But then again, he's a Royal, so string him up along with the rest of them.

I agree NM ()^

Sometimes I think parents are just too busy and forget that there is danger.

Today I was shopping and was just going to reverse but as I looked behind me I saw a women with a trolley. ...it was just luck that I happened to see her 3 y o about 5 feet walking behind her. If I had been a less careful driver her son would have been knocked over.
IMO the mother was totally irresponsible to not have her child under her total control and at the very least have him in her sight while walking in a busy car park.

If I had hurt the child it would have been on my conscience whether I was to blame or not.
