..I'm not asking for money this time ;)

there's a couple of websites I've been trying to listen to music on but I keep getting a wee window popping up that says: 'click to run ActiveX web control on this page' (or something like that)

when I click on 'ok', the page disappears. I have tried to download some kind of software that I thought would cure it - but to no avail.

can anyone help me please? :D

Depends if it's a safe site to install the control ?

Can you give one of the site's addresses and I'll have a look. If you don't want to post it here then PM it to me.
I'm always warey of these pop-ups. I have loads of security software that'll block most nasties but nothing is perfect.
There may be an alternitive program or site.

For those who are wondering the active-x component being asked for was for Quicktime.

The existing installation was either out-dated or disfunctional.

does anyone know how I can get rid of the 'rdriv.sys' virus without having to re-format the hard drive?

I've tried regedit/msconfig autoruns, Hijack this (in safe mode) to see if I could delete the file but it doesn't show up there. I have AVG, Adaware, and Spyware Doctor ....doesn't get rid of it.

It's driving me nuts!

This is a difficult one to track down to remove.

Have a read on this forum from Page 3 of this thread though 5 and 6 might be more useful.

Most important bit appears to be monitoring for a service appearing and then dissappearing in the Windows Task manager under services when you give you PC the 3 finger salute (Ctrl - Alt - Del).

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark, ... ~start=100

And

http://text.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,13661530

Read first and workout the common thread.

I'll let you know how it goes.
